- So… a guest is invited into a house, for fear of persecution, and then offered a prize place at the table.
What’s that saying, hold your friends close, but your enemies closer??? The guest understood why she was asked to take a prized place at the “moderator” table, and even then, knowing what she did, tried to keep a level of civility about the association.
She is known to be opposed to the philosophy of the house, but the host wants the discussion to be broad and fruitful for all.Unfortunately though, the guest starts spreading gossip and rumers about the host and many of the other guests. In time, the host hears of the hostility and asks the guest to leave the table.
Is that so?? Please don’t make those accusations; they are totally unfounded, and such claims lead to Holy Wars. Besides, the guest was never asked to leave!!!
Instead of celebrating the initial invitation, the guest becomes even more bitter about the loss of respect, and thus takes an even more prejudicial view to everything the host says and seeks to find ways to undermine him publicly. The guest always respected her host as being a man of integrity, if he or his disciples interpreted otherwise, perhaps he or they need to look to themselves to find the answers why
Criticism is only constructive when it value adds. There is nothing value adding in this post – it’s just one persons attempt to grind an axe.Criticism is only destructive if it accusations are correct, in which case, the host should have nothing to fear.
Originally posted by SuperTed:LoL Mini, Steves reply doesnt need to be “detailed” to clarify the point that Monoply and queitly many others are seeking an answer for. Steve could clear the issue up once and for all.
Steve yr next reply actually seeks to sidestep the question again and target Monopoly, thats my opinion anyway.
This is a common tactic used by the disciples on this site when the veiws tangent away from the “bible”.
To me its starting to turn into a credibility issue that needs to be resolved!!
Thank you Super Ted,
I know that you and I are not the only ones who share this view, but I guess we are the only ones who have the courage to say something, even at the expense of being ridiculed.
I once thought, that although this site was run by one man’s vision, that he had the openness to accept all views, and indeed upon asking me to become one of his moderators expressed that he partly did so because “the rainbow constitutes many colours”.
I just didn’t realise that all those colours had to be agreeable!!!

I totally agree RodC,
Although, as a non-McKnight follower, I am labelled as “hositle” and my posts “abusive” yet the backlash or feverent replies are deemed acceptable, and more often than not, are permitted to remain.
In the words of one follower,
Joy to the World!! [biggrin]
Steve,
Your point has been made, now here is my short answer to your post accordingly.
If you are only receptive to those who are agreeable to your theories, you will face much disappointment in life’s journey, as criticism on both sides of the fence helps us to learn and develop.
If you are tired of my posts, you as the site administrator have the right to banish me from participation.

Opinions in the opinionated forum please.
Mini,
1. I have heard Steve speak publicly, but this was prior to my joining PI, so I daresay he hasn’t changed his direction since, which btw is neither here nor there for me.
2. I did not start this thread, I only responded to it, and asking a question based on someone’s comment is no a crime, well not since last time I looked.
3. I have a copy of Steve’s lastest book $1 Million in a Year, funnily enough my husband bought it home for me after dealing with a journo in which Steve had given an interview too, along with some notes from same!!!
Relax Mini, I am not out for blood, trust me, I hate the sight of the stuff!!!

Now there’s a breakdown I’d be more than happy to see; maybe Steve will shed some light on this one for us all Geo???Hey Residentialwealth,
I haven’t read the book, but I do agree that there is an 80/20 balance happening here (from my understanding of it’s theory).[biggrin]
Originally posted by Yorker:I don’t recall RPData being free guys. Our subscriptions are in excess of 12k a year. The stuff they put on for free is of little use to serious investors. Josie my dear, I fear you have little to no idea of what you are talking about.
Yorker, I will accept your criticism upon the ignorance to which it is based; no surprises there.
As far as RPData is concerned, it’s validity was not the main focus of my post, but rather in answering the question as to whether Victoria was reinstated in its data source; of which it now is.
If you are trying to pick an argument, you can stop right there, as I have no interest in engaging with such time wasters as yourself.
Hi Andrew,
http://www.reports.rpdata.com.au DOES now include Victoria, for both it’s free and paid reports. The “free” information is somewhat less detailed than it once was, and understandably, has never included sales figures for obvious reasons.
Jo
TerryW,
All of these factors (above) and as per the ATO information is correct, I am not disputing this at all. What I am saying, plain and simply, is that these criteria can (and do) apply to those RENTING. That is if you live in a PPOR and want to be CGT exempt upon sale of same (within the 6 year exemption period) YOU MUST NOT HAVE PURCHASED another PPOR elsewhere!!! In short, you can move out of your PPOR, and rent elsewhere (using all the above conditions), but if you BUY another PPOR and again with the same criteria, the CGT exemption becomes null and void after the initial 6 month transition period (from one PPOR to another)!!!
Does that help clarify it??? This is EXACTLY the type of misleading information people are given simply because the FULL picture is NOT SPELT OUT!!!
Jo
Hardly Ali, but thanks for the vote!!! [blush2]
I tend to get a bit miffed by sweeping generalisations that are loosely thrown around with little or no supporting evidence to back them up, and which sadly appears to be the norm within this community, hence why Somersoft is the better option for highly opinionated characters such as myself.
Enjoy your time here Michelle; you will find many wonderful people amongst this lot, Ali G being one of the sweetest of them; always there to help a damsel in distress, especially from tryrants such as yours truly!!! [whip]
Cheers,[biggrin]

I beg to differ, yes perhaps in defence of MY home state!!!
I am by no means arguing that Victoria is second on the list of Oz states in decline only marginally behind NSW, but I’m afraid, you may need to consult more reliable sources for information as the picture you paint is grossly incomplete and misleading. I have invested 23 years in Victoria (including interstate) and if nothing else, I know that such claims are made by doomslayers or non-Victorian with vested interest in other states. [wacko] Are you trying to sell something there perhaps??? [blink]
I do, on the other hand agree, that WA and Qld have and will continue to have growth potential, but that does not rule other states as candidates for “must misses”!!!
Jo
P.S. If you would like a more ACCURATE and detailed picture of expected growth trends in all the Australian States, as a comparison for your obviously deficient data source from which you base your assumption, feel free to PM or email me; I will be only too happy to oblige.[biggrin]
BTW..I thought it strange for a first post!!! [blink]
Originally posted by masteraccountants:1. is this your electoral address?
2. is this your address for electricity services?
3. is this your address for postal mail?
4. is this where you actually reside?Correct…However, ALL of these things can be (and are) applicable if you are RENTING as well. I believe you have overlooked the OWNERSHIP factor in this equation, which also plays a major part in determining whether the CGT exemption is applicable.

Hey Mini,
24 hour/7 days on call (voluntary) call outs to a woman’s refuge to deal with traumatised victims of domestic violence, PLUS you’ll be pleased to know I am (to my husband’s disgust) vigilant about recycling. All of that spells caring to me, wouldn’t you say???
So how about cutting me some slack???!!! No one is accusing anyone (least of all your guru) of foul play, it’s just stats obsevation and analysis….no harm in that is there??? [blink]
Jo
That’s because there isn’t one!!! [glum2]
Sorry, but if I could’ve got out of it as simply as that, trust me, I would have!!! Like all investors, you will just have to [grin] and bear it, as painful as it is; of course make sure you do everything you can to try and reduce the amount of CGT, but ultimately, big or small….you will have to cough up!!!
Jo
Hi Del,
<edited>
I have no gripe with Mr McKnight, quite the opposite, HOWEVER, criticism is not to be feared but welcomed especially if there is nothing to hide. And I know for fact, that whenever I have questioned Steve, he has answered me, honestly and without the hostility <edited>!!! That to me, is the markings of true respect!!!
Cheers,
Jo
Stevie Wonder is right!!!
I am blown away!!! News has it that Steve is telling people at his book launches that he lives on a meagre $400 per month!!! My goodness, royalties can’t be that bad??? [glum2]
Come on, you can’t be serious Steve…2 adults, one small baby, having to buy food, petrol, pay bills, and milk money alone would cost more than that surely. And all achieved for just under $100 a week??? The leaded petrol your Mazda 323 requires, would consume close to this on its own!!!
Mini, I beg to differ…..Mr McKnight is more than a wonder; he’s a bloody legend (in his extremely tighly budgeted lunchbox)!!! [medieval]
Jo
From my understanding FlyHigh, at tax time you are required to put in 2 separate returns, one for your OZ related income, and one for your NZ related ones. Without being a tax expert, I’d say that probably seems the most logical (and legitimate) way of doing things.
Cheers, [biggrin]
Jo
More champers ladies???? Come on, drink up!!!! [biggrin]
I love it; thanks for that Nev311, you’ve made my day!!! [kiss]
Cheers, [upsidedown]
