My Tip would have to be ‘Do Not Give Up’ the only difference between you and successful investors is they kept looking. For every failed deal you experiance look at it as a posative as you are one step closer to a successful deal.

    Steve,
What an interesting variety of responces. I certainly would not have given him the $5K as suggested by Tegan, however I also believe TerryW is not developing a good relationship for future deals with the agent. I believe Ron had the most diplomatic reseponce, however may be it would be better to suggest to the agent that we could work together for a more mutually satisfying result on future deals- to ensure the agent gave me the opportunity for further purchases.

Reading these comments make one thing clear- every area, ie every council requires different information, different charges and different time frame. We have had an application with council for nearly 12 months, they keep asking for additioanl info- even as much as an areial shot and sound survey. These had not been asked for by the council initially at a prelodgement meeting. I would recommend a pre-lodgement meeting with the council prior to purchasing, however expect additioanl costs and paper work to be asked for at a later date.

    Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
My husband and I came to Australia with nothing, we bought a property with my parents owning a 20% share as we had no deposit. We [paid $255k for it, at the time we could have purchased a lovely 4bed house pool etc in the area, however we chose to buy a small- very ordinary house, that was on 11 acres (not that we need the land) but we recognised that is was zoned future urban development. All our freinds thought we were crazy as it had been zoned this for 20 years. 5 years later we sold it for 1.5mil. The leason here is go with your gut fealing not the safety zone our friends are now green as we have no mortage on a beautiful home, plus 4 P/G investment houses, they are still paying their mortgage.
