I’m happy with Bigpond also. The second part of the email that Bear posted is a link to a site where you can download a tool called stinger to see if you have any viruses, and it will eradicate them. I downloaded it on my sisters computer and ran it, to discover that she had the Bugbear virus, AND a couple of Trojans.

I posted the links in…[Read more]

Bear, the other good point that Bigpond had was this:

If you think that your computer may be infected with Mydoom, and are not sure how to check your system, you can find more information about the virus and the services you can use to scan your system and remove the virus…[Read more]

Dougall, if you’re quick, you could go back and edit your post, and then nobody else will have to know..

And don’t worry, I’d say most of us have made typos once or twice [:)] so we don’t generally pick on others….

Guys, there is a second variant of this virus that has been discovered. It’s not picked up by the virus scanners at the moment.

Apparently it pops up as a Windows error, and once you say OK, it then installs the trojan.

Ian, can you invest in another entity – say a family trust? I don’t know if I would be too keen to forgo that sort of a benefit – especially as the CG is not as rampant as it has been, and you would have to find that and more money to pay for all the costs etc.

I’m guessing that you are currently a renter, and you wish to sublet the property to students?

There’s been a couple of posts on here discussin that option recently. Do a search and see if you can locate them – from memory they were fairly informative, lively discussions.

    welcome rnat

With commercial properties you have to have a lot more cash up front, so the COC may not be as good. Why not look at residential if you don’t have the big bucks to buy a really good commercial building? the learning curve is also a lot smaller – easier to get your feet wet so to speak.

To venture into commercial deals, i would…[Read more]

I just had my next post all ready to go, and hit Subscribe instead of post. The computer ate my reply[:(]

What I said though, will also answer the two questions that have come in since my last post.

I’m thinking that SIS has been investing for only the last year, and so this hurdle probably hasn’t really arisen for him.

    HECS appears to be…[Read more]

Apparently this virus has a self destruct date of 12 Feb, but some parts of it do not. These non destructing parts are the ones that take note of your keystrokes when logging into various places.

It sends mail to everybody in your address book, as many as every 30 seconds.

Guys, in this country we are encouraged to minimise our taxable income as much as we can – legally.

I earn about $50K from my paid employment, and get something like $140K in rental income (Most properties are in joint names so it’s not as good as it looks). My interest bill is roughly $134K. This doesn’t include costs for the…[Read more]

Werribee is close to RAAF Laverton isn’t it? I know Defence has been moving a lot of civilians down there recently, but I’m not sure if that’s settled down now or if there are more to come.
