You might get good information on that area by going to the areas city council website? I’ve noticed some such sites provide plenty of information, while others don’t. Might be worth a try.

Hi there Mat. Welcome to this great site for Property Investment knowledge exchange.

I do believe that a select few lawyers make good money. However, I also believe that a select few Property Investors make good money as well. And it will probably be a more long term investment as well as it being easier, in terms of academic years, people connections etc.

Personally I believe PI is a more easily attainable and lasting wealth, if compared with a sole legal employment.

Of course, you could have a good lawyers who is also a good property investor… *grin*

    Regards,
    ~Marvin~

Thanks for the link, Robert Bou-Hamdan. I’ll go and check up on my credit rating and have a look.

I make around $600 net per week. I’m 27. No negative credit rating possibilities that I can think of. I did lose a library book in 97. However, I did move a lot, and I did get refused multiple times trying to get a credit card… hmmm… so Terryw could be right.

Anyways, I’ll check out the CR first. Thanks again.

Update. Malaysia is trying to get into the ‘free trade economy’ <— I’m not very sure what you call it.

Think how China doesn’t have a proper currency exchange with Australia… well Malaysia is thinking of doing that because they believe their currency is 20% under value. If they succeed, the Ringgit, is expected to rise.

I’ll try and find a reference to where I heard this from and post it up. Otherwise, take what I just wrote as a rumour and find out more if you really are interested.

I think we all know what can happen when you ‘leave it to the experts’. Many people get burnt for blindly trusting experts to take care of their finances. You can get their advice and expertise, but ALWAYS do your own due diligence as well. Just so know know the ins and outs of the game, and how it affects you.

We’ve all heard stories about celebrities being cheated out by their managers, and finding out many years to late.

I’m not saying that we cannot trust them. Just don’t rely solely on them. Don’t pay and pray. Get involved, get curious, find out how your money is being spent and how you can make a profit out of it…. and eventually, how to do it all by yourself even (though I strongly believe in seeking advice from experts).

How about if you were wanting to put up a $10k savings. I heard quite a lot about compound interest saving. Which kinda savings account would that be akin to within the banks? What would you guys recommend in that situation?

    @ Wilko:

I’m currently using Westpac One, which gives me 2 accounts. one transaction account for everday stuff, no transaction fees and includes internet and phone banking. The second account is a savings account that gives 4% per anum, calculated every month, so long as you do no withdrawals from that savings account that month.

Another tip, Wilko. If you still have your student card unexpired, you can get savings accounts from banks as a student, thus waving all transaction and upkeep fees.

My Commonwealth savings account was created when I was still a student. I went to update my information, and the clerk told me NOT to change it. Its free transactions and no upkeep, why change it… she said.

    Hi Marvin,

you be a little disappointed (and maybe mad at yourself), because Peter told us his secret to becoming a multi-millionaire..

    Cheers,
    sis

    ps..
honestly he was a great speaker, and land banking which he talks about is great, but also where he thinks interest rates could be heading..(is very interesting)

Hahaha, rub it in Sis. *grin* I was talking about it to my girlfriend, reminding her to remind me, then wrote it in my organizer, and set my alarm on my mobile.

Well, I didn’t see my girlfriend until late, left my organizer at home, and I didn’t go home till late… and mobile alarm rang… I just couldn’t remember why I set it. DOH!!![oink]

Anyway, not only do I miss the great seminar, I was really looking forward to making friends with some like minded people. All of my friends here, well, they have a death grip on their job security.

Well, there will be a next time. Hope to meet some of you forum goers then. [lmao]

Yeah, I’m interested in the coaching program, but the costs is too much for me. If anyone has ever tried it, we’d like to hear your comments on it.

Btw, anyone here know who Rich Dad really is? In fact, does anyone know who Mike is? Robert Kiyosaki mentions going to seminars with Mike sometimes… that’s his friend whos father is Rich Dad.

First of all, thank you for the links. I’ve gone and read through them.

So technically, I can use my FHOG and get a house/unit and live in there with my girlfriend for 12 months. Then use her FHOG and get another place, then move there together, and rent out the initial house/unit that I bought.

So long as we applied for the FHOG as individuals, it shouldn’t void our partner’s FHOG if they were staying with us right? I did’t quite get that clearly from the websites provided.

    Cheers!

Does it cost money to join? And looks like you need a sponsor and go to a meeting first. I might give it a look. Anyone want to sponsor me?

May I ask advice on how to find out who the land lords are? Or does your friend just walk up to a place and knock on the doors?

    Ah that is very interesting.

Could I possibly talk to this friend of yours? As I am very new in the RE scene, I really need all the help I can get.

Maybe I can send him a nice e-mail and see if he is interested to give me some advice.

    Thanks for that Alistair Perry

If anyone is interested… I’ve got a Malaysian citizenship. And I’m looking for a mentor, it could be beneficial to both parties… *grin*

Thank you Becksoma. I did find it before reading the post, but thank you very much all the same. :)

Btw, we do not need to be a licensed RE Agent to be subletting right? I thought I better find that out first. However, haven’t seen it being stated anywhere as yet.

    Cheers,

Thank you everyone who have had a read of my post. I’m just adding some update I was hoping could capture the attention of Steve or Dave, or in fact anyone else who knows anything about what I’m trying to accomplish through sub-letting. So here I go…

Mr Steve McKnight & Dave Bradley, if you are reading this. Firstly, thanks for the Fast Track 2 CD, I really enjoyed it. And thank you for sending me a free Fast Track tape (but I have yet to get access to a cassette player. I’ve not seen one around for years).

I would very much like to meet your friend who managed to do this.

I would like to thank him/her for such a creative idea. And I also have a few questions to ask him about the basis and the fundamentals of his/her idea.

If it isn’t too much trouble, could you pass on my e-mail to him/her? No obligations, if he/she decides to e-mail me, that would be great.

My e-mail is [email protected] and I’m from Toowoomba.

    Thanks heaps guys.

    Techhowse,

I’d like to encourage you to continue to sponge up all the information you can about property investing. Take all the information you gather, sit down and do some thinking. Decide for yourself where you want to go in the future, the long run. If you can visualize where you want to go, and establish the purpose of your life, you’ll find that knowing what to do will follow suit.

I’m 10 years older than you, I just started what you are starting. So don’t let anyone discourage you, and don’t take any advices blindly. Get into a curious state, find out everything you need to know first hand (if possible). Making decisions will be more thought out with correct data, and your confidence will be much stronger.

    Cheers,

    ~Marvin from Toowoomba (QLD)

Thank you for the quick reply. I guess I will have to pop down to some RE agencies and have a bit of a chit chat.

I do know that the agreement will be under my name, but then when I rent out to my tenants, we will have an agreement sorted out too. Kinda like a wrap, but in a rent situation.

Hi Sooshie (Nice Nick name. Hee! I’m a SUSHI chef)

Thanks for the much appreciated effort for bringing us these links.

Can I suggest that we compile the lists into an archive. There it can be just one page with all the list of links with a short summary plus kudos to whoever posted it.

Users can click onto it to get read more info like ratings, and other user reviews/comments. If they like it, they can click it and go there.

I’m just suggesting so that it would be easier for you and us to keep track of without having to go through 7 pages of forums.

Hee! You could even get sponsorship from those webmasters to advertise here and promote their site. Now that’s +ve gearing online property investing*grin*
