thanks for your comments. actually i bought <who took my money> today and find it so fascinating!

I asked the question coz at the bottom of my heart i’ve been suspecting this “managed fund” approach for sometime now. so i risked making myself “look stupid” and made the post.

but on the other hand, according to John Burley, there are different levels of investors and you just can’t skip any level. and it’s very important to reach level four, which basically means pay off your debts, save money and invest what you’ve saved into a managed fund!! and ONLY after reaching level 4 you could possibley move to the next higher level!

unfortunately this is what EXACTLY being scoffeed at in RK’s <who took my money>, although in his book <guide to investing> he also mentioned all the different levels of investors.

so now i’m a bit confused…any more comments or help?

    cheers

Thank you so much melbear, for taking the time to read and comment on my personal situation. very much appreciated.

anyway, although quite a few issues are “personal preferences”, my 1st and 2nd questions were not:
    1) is it true that if we buy a house and make repayments, the first 2 or 3 years’ repayments will be the interest part and thus we won’t have too much equity in the house?

    2) is it a “bad” idea if we try to get a commercial loan to buy a business by borrowing against out PPOR house?

    Thanks again

    thanks mate.
oz is the lucky country and i’m lucky to migrate to here. this country gives me freedom, opportunities and happiness. i love this country and i like aussies!(oz oz oz oi oi oi….:))

thanks for the motivation, although originally i was trying to list my strong points and weak points and ask for some advice/help/comment on my weak points, not to rationalise…

anyway this could be a bit off-topic, but i do get some culture shocks. eg, i found quite a few aussies are so PASSIONATE about the Queen. isn’t oz an independent country? i know oz and UK have strong historical connections, but do aussies HAVE TO celebrate Queen’s birthday? i’m just confused…

at last thanks again for the motivation manofaction!
