What about a 'saniflow' unit or similar? They hook into your normal waste pipe rather than sewerage line… Anyone used one before?

Are these the mercerator units that chops up the waste so that it can flow into the smaller waste pipes, rather than the larger 100mm pipes that is normally used for toilets? I've read about these, mostly on American websites. Haven't heard of them being used in Australia. Does anyone have one installed in Australia?

Being mechanical and electrical, I'm guessing that it would be more prone to breakdowns than standard toilets?

I've seen properties marketed having approved Development Applications. One example was a 2 bedroom single storey house on a 250 sqm block in Richmond Victoria. The approved plans was for a second storey extension bringing the total number of bedrooms to 4.

My question is, does this add any value above the cost of getting the plans approved e.g. architect / draftspersons fees, council fees etc. Would it achieve a higher selling price?

    Hey Freckle

Do you know if replacing weatherboards with polystyrene and rendering over is cheaper than doing the same with blueboard? I've seen much more blueboard than polystyrene being done to houses. What are the pros and cons of each material?

    Cheers

Does anyone know if blueboard can be fixed straight over the top of the fibre cement and then rendered over? Has anyone had this done before? I've had asbestos wall sheets removed from a back bungalow and then blueboard installed and rendered, but chose to remove the asbestos as I didn't like the idea of having any asbestos. Would cladding over add too much weight for the stud walls, as blueboards are 8mm thick I think (thicker and heavier than standard fibre cement sheets)?

Also, has anyone had any experiences removing fibro or weatherboard and then installing styrofoam and rendering over? I guess it would be cheaper than blueboard but what are its disadvantages compared to blueboard? I imagine it would not be as solid as blueboard?

    Cheers

    Hi Chloe

Do you still have the Renovating for Profit DVD? Is it the complete course material set, including the templates, software, checklists etc?

    Thanks
