I have / have had several IPs in Canberra over the years, but no expert. I always keep a look out on website AllHomes.com (allhomes.com.au). Good site, listing just ACT property and for each property a sales history is available back to 1992. Bit of an invasion of privacy I thought, however good for research.
Where to buy and what type of property is your personal choice, however I did very well with two bed townhouses, all with lockup garage or carport and small courtyard. Locate around the town centres of Woden, Tuggeranong or Belconnen. Lots of employment here, with professional singles or couples. All have good access to public transport. Canberra had little or no growth for quite some years, however the past two were better, but seems to be slowing again. Good yield and sound growth over the longterm.
