Hi Greenfield
Welcome to Oz when you come in April. Having just got back from NZ in Oct and enjoyed your country & people it looked liked you guys have a nice life over there. I suppose life is what you make it but besides your freezing winters I think I would enjoy the slower pace of life. Boy that shows I must be getting older!!!!!

Hi fbd1
You will need to contact your local council or their website to find out the rebate amount as I don’t know if it is the same for all councils. Ours depends on the size of the tank as it varies on the size. Just a tip put in the biggest tank you are able to accommodate.

Our council sent out a special sign to put near our letter box which had the size of our water tank & that alternative water supply was in use. It just came in the mail last week, because we had it inspected when we applied for the rebate these signs were sent to households with tanks.
So hopefully the neighbours notice, although our house is…[Read more]

Hi PropertyWA
Thanks for the spanking, I apologise, you are correct I haven’t been there and it was unjustice of me to judge the town although I wasn’t critising the people. Actually from your post it does sound like it has a good history and while I wouldn’t look to invest there you have shamed me enough that I’m going to have a closer look at…[Read more]

Many years ago my husband & mate stopped in Norseman & said it was the worst place they have EVER been to. I laughed when I saw the name as it always comes up at BBQ’s when everyone has nightmare tales to tell. I may be doing Norseman an injustice but somehow I don’t think so. Buyer beware!!

We put a water tank in at PPOR & have not regretted it as with the water restrictions we can keep our garden wash the car etc. Recouping our money would take along time though. As for an investment property I don’t think it would add value. If in the future you wanted to sell then I would consider it ,but only then.

Hi Nuby
I don’t know where you live but with us our council will not just let you chop down a tree unless it is causing danger to property. We have to get a specialist to prove this & then go back to the council. So my suggestion is check with the council before you even consider touching your tree. It won’t be the neighbour with the “fine” it…[Read more]

Hi DLPP
Yes the dams are Very low & we are on tight water restrictions. My husband & I put in a 5200 ltr water tank 18mths ago & while to recoup our money will take along time I feel we are doing our bit. In the last week in Syd we could have filled ten or more of them, unfortunately the dams don’t seem to get as much in the catchment areas. I…[Read more]

Hi DLPP
The ferry hasn’t grown too much of anything & not sure it will. The Ettalong suburb has gone up in value though & with the new club that has been open for awhile now does quite well with the tourists & locals.
Still value on the Central Coast alot of Sydneysiders have moved up here in recent years, our biggest issue is our water supply!!…[Read more]juls replied to the topic Foundation – you offered to tell us why in the forum Heads Up! 18 years, 3 months ago
Thanks Foundation for a great post. I know alot of people will probably not agree with your thinking but I for one have found it absorbing and challenges my way of thinking. I always like to hear other peoples opinions and have taken alot on board from reading you posts.
Thanks Juls

Hi
Just thought I’d add an opinion. I think pushing it with her will get you no-where and you need to focus on your goals which are great especially at your age. I’m in my forties & read Rich Dad Poor Dad 7 years ago & it changed my life, for the better. You can ask my husband I was always negative about investing (too scared) and we now have…[Read more]

Sorry Badgers_R_Us, I can only speak from personal experience about papertrading. All I can say is that researching & watching a list of stocks is a good idea for 2-3 mths but papertrading them is easier when money is not on the line. Emotion is a BIG factor when things are live, don’t underestimate your own feelings when money is involved, be…[Read more]

Got to agree with foundation, been trading for a few years, more so in options, & papertrading was nothing like live trading. Actually found it a waste of time. If wanting to buy shares same advise research of the co. if buying blue chips & using options as insurance if the market turns to minimise loss. Louise Bedfords books are great for…[Read more]

Only the second post for me but here goes.
Having attended a Dolf De Roos weekend seminar a couple of years ago in Sydney & forked out big dollars, which I could have saved myself as I had read his book & there was nothing new to learn at the seminar which wasn’t in the book I paid $40 for. There were no lecture notes given out just a nice…[Read more]
