I come across a duplex, fire damaged one, and the other one is still tenanted. The insurance company assessed the damaged one as a write-off. Can I get any advice from anyone experienced in dealing in duplex on the possible costs​ to rebuild? Is it possible to demolish the damaged half and keep the one good half, to detach from duplex?

I have talked to an agent in Hobart over the phone and was told that the property market has been booming there in the last 3 months….. I am living in Melbourne and am tempted to get a rental property in Hobart. However, I am fair new in doing property investment (first one).
