    Hi Steve and others,

While i respect your opinions, i would ask that you think about this a little more broadly.

Can any of you honestly say that you have never:

    : borrowed a book from a library

    : borrowed a book from a friend

: lent a book to a friend or

: bought a book second hand

I seriously doubt that many people could. Yet these all deprive the author of 100% of his/her royalty and people do it every day.

Many of the above practices have even been recommended in many posts on this forum to those on a tight budget.

    Cheers
    Jay

    Hi guys,

Great topic. This is one i’ve always liked!

    Hi Mel,

Thanks for your input, i agree that it was absolutely an error in judgement. This i admitted in the opening sentence as well as the title of the post.

It was never my intention however to rip anybody off. I had intended to keep the origanal as i am a collector of books, CD’s and DVD’s. My friend however sold it before i even layed eyes on it. There was never any agreement about who would hold the original and i felt that i would have access to it at anytime.

And although i intend to write it off as a lesson learnt, i wont be asking for my money back. Hopefully the loss will prevent me from making the same mistake again.

    Thanks
    Jay

    Xyzzy,

    Please re-read my original post.

My first admission is the fact that i made a mistake in trying to save money by going halves in the program.

I also said that it was my friend who sold the CD’s on ebay (not me). I was in fact very annoyed about this, as i had intended on keeping the original.

The reason that i decided to go halves in the Cd’s in the first place was too save a little money not rip anyone off. In the time since reading Steve’s book (my first on the subject), i have bought 7 other books (Kiyosaki, De Roos, Lomas) as well as Robert Kiyosaki’s “You can choose to be rich” 12 CD set for over $500.

The budget was being stretched a little thin so i decided to split the cost of the CD’s. As a result of us pooling our money together, the author sold an extra copy that he may not have otherwise sold.

    Cheers
    Jay

    G,day xyzzy,

I’m assuming from your response that you have never (not even once), used your CD burner or perhaps made a copy of a music tape or video.[:O]

It is not breaking any copyright laws to make a copy of something that you own! That is why CD burners, tape recorders, video recorders exist.

    Hi Dingo,

    Thanks for the reply.

I agree about the risk but a little planning and due diligence can eliminate most (not all) of the risks.

As for putting any positive cashflow back into the mortgage. Thats the main advantage of using the offset account. Ideally you would have all of your available money and savings in this account and would have instant access to it if need arises.

    Thanks for the contributions guys.

Wow, Slum Lord that really was a “horror story”.[:O]

It’s incouraging to see that these terrible experiences had all turned out alright in the end,
as this is what i was hoping to find with this topic.

    Keep the stories coming.

    Cheers,
    Jay.

    Hi Arty,

Motorsport, i just can’t get enough.

V8 Supercars and F1 mainly but i enjoy most kinds of circuit racing. (Not drag racing)

Also grew up playing Aussie rules and Cricket so i still love these.

    Cheers,

    Thanks Westan,

    Great story.

I’m glad that it had a happy ending, and that even though it was a bad experience you probably were able to learn some valuable lessons.

    Cheers,
    Jay.

    Hi Achievers,

The reason it appears as though the posts are disappearing is because you have your search parameters set up to only search for posts made in the last 30 days (which is the default setting). As no new posts are being added to the Treasure Chest this number will contually fall.

You can however change the way you search by changing the parameters on the top right of the screen. There are heaps of different ways to refine your search.

    Mel,

I’ve been considering buying it myself and was wondering if you can play it online.

Also if you’ve played the board game, how would you compare the two?

    Thanks.[:)]

    Gotta agree Westan,

Holy Grail is the greatest ever comedy.

    Got a favourite scene?

I love the “French Taunter”… “I don’t wanna’ talk to you no more you empty headed animal’s food trough wiper”. Quite possible the best insult in cinematic history!

And then there is “The Black Knight” and let’s not forget “Brave Sir Robin”. I could go on and on. I must have seen it 20 times. I wore out my copy on VHS, and have since bought the Special Edition DVD (which is fantastic by the way).

    Morning all,

Whilst i appreciate the efforts of those above it appears we have been unsuccessful in our quest.[:(!]

This leaves me with no option than to enforce plan B.[:O]

    Arty,

Please inform Pinky that until she returns as an active member of this forum, her former associates here will be subjected to random acts of appalling poetry[:O]*(see conditions below).

I wish to apologise to those that suffer as a result of this, but feel i have no other alternative![:(]

    So here goes:

T’is Thursday now, thy heart is bleak,[:(]

Tears flow freely down my cheek,[:(]

For Pinky still has not been found,

And it’s much more fun when she’s around,[:D]

She can be bad, nudge nudge, wink wink,[;)]

She makes us laugh, she makes us think,[^]

She speaks her mind, she misbehaves,[}:)]

She wants pet rats and semi-naked slaves,[:O]

And yes it’s true God said “Don’t send her here”,

And the Devil waits for her in fear,[}:)]

But it’s all of this that makes her unique,[8D]

Her honesty, her wit, her cheek,[:P]

And Pinky though we know you’re p-ssed,[:(!]

Please come back soon, you’re sorely missed.[:X]

    In desperation,

    Jay
