As soon as I close a deal here locally, which should happen within the next 2 weeks or so, I will be turning attention and QLD and WA, choosing areas I wish to invest in. Id be interested in your assistance like this, and I can do all the other arrangements anyway. Post your email.

I think you are commenting on the fact that once the funds are disbursed, that the beneficiary loans the money back to the trust and that this is just an accounting record. I believe the beneficiary can recall on those funds however at any time (not sure if a loan agreement can get around this). I have set up a discretionary trust, it has a corp beneficiary (for tax at 30%) as well as family members (including myself) and I can distribute funds from the coprorate trustee (yep another company) as I see fit.

Stu and Steve are spot on, that much I know, but im still learning. In fact my accountant is coming in Monday to ensure my comfort with it. A trust isnt set up to make money, its purpose is to invest and protect assets under a separate legal entity. Tax benefits?… makes little difference if none at all. I set up the trust to guarantee a disconnect between income earned and asset wealth.

    Hi All,

Ok. I agree with Mini, and fullout, I waited for you but I got hungry so I headed home! I bought the software, and as Mini said, I dont want to go hunting around web sites for calculators, and it wasnt just about that, it was about being 150% organised, being able to assess your position and keep track of everything in one place, presentation to the bank, etc. Being someone that values their time highly, I thought it was good value. I attended Kiyosaki and there is no way Id pay his $7k for a weekend. However, I think the rich, astery weekend is reasonable value, and Im inclined to go. I never buy anything on an evening like that, so this was a first. Their detail was good and far more hands on. Not hype, an actual service. Im also interested in the deals they may have.

The $10000 question is, who do you believe. Your due diligence may assist but at the end of the day its all risk assessment. I met a buyers advocate in the morning who’s opinion was so low on Henry Kay I couldnt repeat it then had dinner with a seriously successful investor, talking syndicates and other stuff and is actually one of the key people behind Henry Kay and also his good mate. Talk about a day of it.

Its all under a discretionary trust – all set up, firing to go! I has also thought about a separate trust for every property, such that one never encroaches on the other. That could be a tad overboard.

In business, never employ family, unless youre prepared to treat them like employees.

    Hi Brendan

Retire at 40 means financially free and stress free. Stress is a big issue for me and I just want the stress to end. After 40, its freedom of choice. I think it would take till Im 90 to learn golf and play it well enough.

Will advise re the buyers agents soon

Ok. Firsly, 90 people read it, 2 replies – hmmm. Perhaps people discriminate against ducks?

    Right.

Hi Stuart, yes I know your site well and will be in touch. No partner (typical of a career-minded late bloomer but its all under a discretionary trust tax structure??). I like your ideas re spreading risks.

Scott, I think Im going to have to read that a few times and chat again to the accountant. Im a tad confused. I very much appreciate your feedback though and youre spot on – I got them confused, you got me on that – must learn more, faster, better!

Excellent, thank you everyone, I will act on this and let you know the $$ result, for a facts and figures feedback post on what these services are like. Friends and family….hmmm. they are not so financially minded as Id like, perhaps, but I will keep that one circling around the brain and offer a spotters fee!

    Best Regards

Stu, legend, thanks. I prefer referrals for everything. But the question is, have YOU used them, or a close friend? Did the numbers stack up?

    Thanks

Thanks Mini Mogul I thought it was going to stay at zero replies then. Apart from Richmastery in NZ (think that was the name), what about here in Oz and does anyone have the name of someone they have USED and are HAPPY with and have used them ongoing?

    Real experiences appreciated.

Thanks again Mini mogul – I can sign off happy now [:D]
