Not me! I can’t fly. I can’t even drive. My hubby got upset easily when he taught me to drive. I only missed a tree by 10cm. Now I CAN’T EVEN DANCE because I make him upset again! So think 100 times before getting serious.
BTW I met Mel yesterday & she is pretty cool. I need to meet up with you too Paul, to make sure you’re her perfect match.
I seeked and I found 4 good ones. I bought the worst …. I’ve learned that when I picked out the only fake diamond among the real ones I thought otherwise and I’m still the same
I thought about this option when my IP was vacant for 2 months but didn’t think it’s feasible. How do you arrange landlords insurance? This day, liability is a big concern.
I think the government is fully aware of this problem. They try to solve it by encouraging us to put more money into Superannuation so we can support ourselves in the old age.
Another way to do is as what you wrote but it needs more time to find the best approach. The government has to find funding without taking from other areas in need. I fully support this program because through my experience I know how hard it is to look after babies & to work fulltime at the same time.
In many countries there is a tradition of children taking care of their old age parents. This is a good way but it depends on individual finance & commitments. How to promote this idea in this country is another matter. We have been supporting our mother in law for over 25 years, from the time we were still students till now, into my retirement. Nevertheless, we try to plan well for our retirement because we don’t want to become a burden to our children or the government. By saying this I’m still fully aware of many people who can’t afford to do so.
Our dog & cat aren’t funny. Our cat doesn’t go to the loo outside. He always waits until we sit down for dinner & my hubby has to be there before he makes a bad smell. His tray is in the laundry but I could detect the smell right away & guess who has to clean up? He loves my hubby! Sometimes I saw him sleeping on my daughter’s pillow & she was curling at the other end of her bed.
Our dog when she’s desperate she jumps on our dining table. I think she is intellectual because she chooses misterial corespondent, maths assignments, & my favorite cook book ….
I love pets but if you see my shoes, the carpet, binds, speakers, blankets, lounge …. in my house you will know how much I suffer.
I rang St George/CGU and explain the problem to them and they told me so. I got caught out and still wonder if landlord insurance is any good! It seems that we have to renew the lease at the end everytime. Let me know if your insurance company is better.
You can ask your agent what he plans to do next and how long it will take.
From my recent experience:
1. 2 weeks for eviction. The agent then applied to get the bond. It took over 2 weeks to get it.
2. Landlord insurance didn’t pay because the last lease was ended a few months ago. The tenant stayed on a monthly basis. The insurer didn’t even pay for the cost incured from the mess the tenant left behind.
3. The agent looked after everything. He even applied for a 2nd hearing to get some money for the unpaid rent & cleaning up costs from the tenant. I paid $30 for the tribunal hearing, the left over costs of cleaning up & 8 week lost rents (untenanted).
It’s ok Arty, my kids tease me all the times. I like your motto :
“Why work to the age where you cant enjoy what you have worked for !.” (Author: Me)
I asked myself that question a few years ago & decided to retire early. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made. Now I do whatever I want to do & enjoy life.
I’m not sure because I don’t often understand jokes (in any languages) but Sooshie thinks so and I trust her. [!]
Is your workmate a -ve or +ve Huey? I have that name because people can’t pronounce my real name. I’m a Huey but I don’t look like Huey the famous Cook on TV. I have long hair, pink cheeks[] & as old as your mum.
I had a job with David Jones, working on Saturday mornings. They put me at the counter to sell “stockings & panty hoses”. I was painfully shy at that time so when someone approached me for assistance I had a red face & forgot my English. I was a real bad shop assistant so I gave it up after a few weeks because I didn’t feel right to earn the money they paid.
You sound like my youngest daughter. Forget your number 1 wish and work harder with your wand for your nos. 2 & 3.

PS: My daughter used to love chocolate. Once she made for me a bar of chocolate for Mothers’ day. She couldn’t resist so by the time I unwrapped her present it was only a small piece left. Her eyes still couldn’t move away from it. As soon as I said “You can have it” she put it in her mouth & it’s gone within a few seconds. Now she prints on her guitar cover : “say NO to COCOA. I oppose slavery” and she gave up her favorite food!
If you think you & your wife can’t cope you should seek help. Ring your local Community Services. I think you can get this service from a marriage counsellor for free.
Try to do as Leigh and others suggested. Caring for a baby all day is a really hard job. You should take good care of your wife because post natal depression can happen. Your wife would love and appreciate a helping hand & special cares from you. Even making for her a cup of tea can make her day. Happiness is everywhere around you. Try to create many happy moments with your wife & your child when you come home from work. Do this more often & you will feel rich with happiness & love. In hard times you often create a special bond.
It’s unfortunate that your father thinks that way, however he still needs your love & care. Try to maintain a good relationship with him but don’t let him runs your life. Never accept any financial help from him if he wants to use that as a way to interfere into your own family’s affairs.
I believe anything comes down to the bottom will bounce back up. Your story reminds me of myself back 30 years ago. I had a job at Woolies 2 nights a week to re-stock. I had to cut off the top of boxes & put them up on the shelves. I was small & thin & some of the food & drink boxes were very heavy. Peter, the nightshift manager & people worked there were very nice. When I looked at them and smiled they helped me to lift up the boxes. I was a full time student, thousand miles away from home. Most of my scholarship allowance was used to pay for my son’s daycare …. There were times I had to take my son to the hospital late at nights. I remember he was sick but cheerful. He liked to pull the nose of his kind doctors. Once I didn’t have any money to pay for the $2 hospital fee so I just stood there & cried … I was embarrassed but didn’t feel I was short of money! Instead I felt happy because my son was better and I had him back in my arms.
I have had countless low points in my life but they are just like a bitter medicine that helps me matured & grow stronger. And I have many high points in my life too. One of those is my son has grown into a very nice & considerate person. He is now a good doctor.
I hope you will overcome this hurdle and find happiness soon.
