    All this talk of doom and gloom, what happened to becomming successful from doing this differently.I guess its time to get creative. Being taxed on profits? I was taught that you cant go broke making a profit.

    Same here it costs me $40/m (the block is 850m2) the tenant would have to borrow a lawn mower and the edges were never done. Its grouds for raising the rent a little as well I’m sure the tenant is now happy that they dont have to do it any more.

    There is no risk if its structured correctly. Worst case serario if the house went mortgagee in possesion would be a loan of between 20%-30% of the original purchase price. The parents would not loose their house.

    Finacial structure is crucial to proecting assets and your own home. The right structure also helps to pay off your own home faster. If an investment property goes bad you may loose your house if not structured correctly. I’m in Sydney

    The auctioneer only had two bidders so he could not set the bid amounts incase he outed a bidder.
    At the end of the day we all set our prices and stand by them whether buying or selling. The key is not to let emotion make your decision.

    Governments and businesses are focussing on decentralising and moving industries to country areas as they do in most parts of Europe.Call centres is one industry. A large one moved into Nowra on the south coast of NSW, and as mentined in this forum there may be a prison going into central NSW, Wellington.

    Check the zoning you may be able to get a DA for a duplex. If possible its security if the house gets eaten.

    Another option is to invest in aged care with the developer and make some high returns. I guess the one benefit is that these are monitored and regulated by the government. I have heard some villages pool the rental so that if your unit is vacant for any given time you still get a return. Rental is also linked to cpi. Is the unit you are looking at fully furnished as this would be more attractive to retirees.
