My general rule of thumb: If you can afford it, keep it…..if you need money…..sell it.

Ipswich in my opinion is an excellent growth area due to the current low socio status of the region. This means houses are cheap, but eventually, this satellite town will be huge…

For a bit of a risk, I believe the Logan corridor is still a great option. Kingston/Woodridge/Slacks Creek are still way below average Brisbane prices and are only 30min to the CBD…the area is going ahead….my 2 cents…

This is a load of crap…there are much easier entries into property, but people are being held back, as I once was, by not being creative with sourcing loans and living beyond their means….I mean $125 for car payments for a week???? Get a grip on reality…

Thanx for the honest feedback…I agree, it is aimed at that particular market segment. I hope that, with time, the content becomes much richer, appealing to a broaded audience…

Hm…optus website does need to be rectified, where are those free domain names…..

This is just "my point of view", but it is backed up by a bit of information. A friend of mine used to live on Russel Island and assures me that it was not ideal. While there are cheap blocks and some cheap houses, you must keep in mind that islands segregate people from mainland. Yes, at first thought you think, yes, but its only a short ferry ride, butu think about doing that ferry ride for a few years day after day after day, it  would get  to you perhaps. Also consider that there are insect problems on some of the islands. Just a few things to consider, that have kep thouses and especially land prices down on Brisbane prices…

    4 tips to investing nOObs….

Tip 1: If you buy something, you actually have something that has potential to make you money, if you don’t, you don’t!

Tip 2: Do not be afraid of capital gain tax (refer to Tip 1).

Tip 3: Generally speaking, the risk involved with investing is making a sub standard profit.

Tip 4: The earlier you buy, the better…do not follow cycles, too complicating, just buy! [biggrin]

No one will read this, but here is the problem with stupid young people (I am one, so don’t critisise): Young people want to live in the CITY where its EXPENSIVE, rather than OUTSKIRTS or COUNTRY where its still affordable. Don’t tell me you can’t afford a house, I’m on 50,000, my partner is on 30,000 and we have our house, an investment house, a residential block and another 28 acre bush block with views. So quit whining, get off your “I want to spend $300K on a house” bandwagon and start thinking… [evo]

    HHmmm, a toughy…

I noticed you say you have a wad of cash for your “next” IP aquisition. Out of curiousity, wouldn’t this cash best be utilised to service current debt?

Anyway, it seems to me that there is more to consider here than just repaying loans somehow. A piece of information that may help you is knowing your projected IP area growth….i.e. is it really worth keeping the properties? Especially if its impacting on your financial life in a negative way….

    I know nothing!
