My schedule is all over the place at the moment…. would love to catch up … maybe even start a group for complete novices (like myself) to experienced IP people.

I think it is almost if not totally illegal to live in an investment property as your PPOR… as far as I’m aware. The only way around something like this is if you team up with someone… they buy one property and you rent it out, you buy another property and they rent that one.

I have definately heard of people doing that… there are two houses on the street.. one person buys House A, the other buys House B as IPs… the person who bought House A then lives in House B and vice versa.

I know the above post is ancient however it is also relevant to me. Just reviving it as I seek the same. I don’t have the money to actively start just yet… just wondering what there is available in re: groups of this nature on the Gold Coast ?

So basically, since I’m okay with the whole delay-ed gratification concept. It would be better for me to rent a modest place whilst I invest… so that I can then eventually move out into “my own home” securely due to having the IPs behind me (as such).

I would be investing in property for income as well as assets. I realise it is starting to become harder to invest in property for income these-days (market climate as such)… so I’m quite happy to sit back.. rent cheaply.. save my money.. and then invest.

ah.. I did a search and couldn’t come up with anything. There is no glossary of terms as such that I could find… so I have to ask… what does PPOR mean ?

Otherwise I’ve found this an interesting read since I’m a long time renter… and plan to downgrade (rent a smaller/less expensive place) so that I can invest.

I’ve always been curious whether buying my own home then investing or renting and investing … is the “better” deal. I guess it is personal preference in the end.. hence a little “emotional”.

More specific questions following the original one:

    * What’s your opinion on the residential property market in South East Queensland ?

    * What’s your opinion on the residential property market on the Gold Coast in particular… esp. Central Gold Coast ?

I want to hear ALL opinions – incl. the ones that refer to themselves as “Realists” (not doom and gloomers, just being realisitic as such) as well as those who think like attracts like… :)

I watch TV as a way to tune out to the world.. to be entertained.. even if that entertainment is pure fluff sometimes. It’s affordable and accessible. I don’t always want to pick up a book. I really have to be “in the mood” to read a book.

Sometimes I just want to watch… tune out.. not think..

If you do not like TV, don’t watch it. Simple, easy solution. Otherwise, no point in complaining about it if you are continuing to watch it. I just enjoy it for what it is .. nothing more.

As for the rest of the comments. I’m very slender and attractive really… I look after my health… so being obsese and beer drinking is the complete opposite of me.

    :)

O’wise I would love to keep discussing Big Brother with everyone in this thread :)

I need to register to read the article. I’m a long-time renter. I was always curious which way to go: should I rent and invest in property (cf+) or should I buy to own (a property) and then invest ?

Hmm… I’m hoping to be in a better position in 6 months time so that I can move out of the rental property I’m in now into something smaller and less expensive. I’m hoping to have a car by then so that will allow me to look outside of where I currently live for affordable rental properties.

Mortgage Advisor – you are right. I really wish I came across this website sooner. It is one of the main reasons why I decided to stop with the Gold mentor program.

I figured that I know the basics… that when I was prepared to actually go ahead and “go for it” (as I’m still v-much in the learning phase due to not having the $$ behind me yet)… I could come to here for support, advise and so forth.

    :D

Okay.. another old Ed Burton thread I’ve found in my search. I just wanted to add to it as I’m one of those people who happen-ed upon Ed B. much earlier than this website and thus Steve McK.

I attended the Brisbane seminar when Ed was in a wheelchair. I also bought (have paid if off so I own it fully) the CDs spoken about… and was a member of the Gold circle for just over the last year (since I’ve been busy working, I never was able to be part of the teleconferences and/or phone-ins.. so I mainly paid $280 for the information found within the CDs given to me each month).

I have only recently (this month) cancelled my $280 per month gold membership as I would much prefer to use that towards my health due to the physical nature of my work (main business).

Anyway, I didn’t make the decision to leave the Gold wealth mentoring program lightly. Now that I’ve quit it.. I can’t go back to it. Once a member quits the Gold program, the spot is offered to someone from the Silver mentor program… and therefore gone for good.

Kinda grieving the loss as I did learn alot from Ed. He did and does seem genuine.

He also makes a killing as there are alot of people paying $280 per month to be part of the Gold mentor program.

Just another opinion from someone who learnt all about property investing and so forth from Ed Burton. He gave me the start.

I’m hoping that this forum (its members) and thus Steve McK will be able to be my guides and mentors from now on since I’m no longer part of that group.

What I do find interesting is that Ed warns against wraps (vendor financing)… he isn’t “in favour” of it.. and thus doesn’t really promote it… whereas Steve McK does… hmm…

    :)

I know this is an old thread however since his seminars have come and gone…. at least 6 months ago… just wondering if anyone is currently with him in re: being a Gold or Silver member.

I was a Gold members until recently. I had to drop it (a hard decision to make) due to not being able to afford $280 a month for some CDs…. even tho’ the information I have learnt thanks to those CDs has and will be invaluable.

I’m a BB fan from the original series. The only downside is that I’m working alot during the middle of each month at the moment so I’m missing alot… thereby not able to really get into it as much as I would like…

As for the individuals being at the mercy of the producers coz they cut n edit thereby controlling what we do and do not see…. there is always the webcam. Yes, they control even the webcam to an extent … yet it gives u unedit-ed footage.

I just like the whole social experiment of BB… the relationships and so forth.

I’m not so much a reality TV junkie.. just a fan of a few reality TV shows.

As per my forum nick — Gold Coast, Queensland !

I’ve been here all my life and whilst I mainly rent… I plan on buying a property (either unit or house) within the next 12 months to live within whilst also investing. I’m sick of renting and there are still some really decent bargains around here on the Gold Coast.

I found a unit via domain.com.au for $26,000 …. it was reduced by $15,000!! Gotta love those “motivated sellers” :D
