    Hi Alf,
Can you imagine ‘Hamlet reciting Rocky’? It’s just not the same thing.

    Hi all,
‘YES IT’S GOOD OL’ GEORGE (I mean Gatsby!),
Just jumped back on this thread. What I have experienced before and I guess currently must look for in a partner (not ‘like’, because after all, one hasn’t met the person they are describing yet) is this I guess. I don’t know if anyone else here has had this experience before but it seems to hold true to 2 intense relationships I’ve had in my life. A girl who was to many ‘georgeous’, I found , yeah she’s cute or whatever. However after I went out with this girl it was like a suntan. Within a week, whatever the chemical/sexual attraction we had faded. A girl I knew at Uni was sitting next to me at orientation week. She appeared young, ‘squeaky’ clean and innocent in her youth at the time. After a year she dropped out of Uni due to a response she copped from a lecturer who couldn’t answer her question and copped out. She dropped out of Uni on principle. We became good friends at Uni up until then and then she left. However, during that time her looks abandoned me and I started to be in love with her mind and I discovered things in her both sexually and intellectually that I was just so blind to prior! We went out after she dropped out of Uni and I couldn’t believe this was the same person I viewed on the first day at Uni??? Our relationship was stormy, passionate, intellectually stimulating as much as it was sexual, if not more. It’s just bizzare that often you can be initially attracted to someone for their physical appearance, yet it often diminishes over time. Then you can meet someone who you don’t see in that way at all. However the longer you spend with them, the more beautiful they appear each day and become, as if illuminating from a lantern inside! As this attraction isn’t limited to their physical being, then the attraction, love and their beauty has no limits.
    Gatsby.

    My dear Rob,
‘Comments made are of a general nature and should not be construed as advice to any particular individual’. Does that line at the bottom of all your posts ever bubble up inside of you? I’ve just got a couple more financial comments. As an astute mortgage broker, someone such as yourself for example, it’s great to hear that you go out of your way to do some volunteer work. On average, what is the survival rate with the free first aid? I just wish more people were as conscientious as you as we all know how short the SES is of good ambulance drivers (especially this time of year!). Just don’t get caught driving around while using your mobile phone (let alone a community radio). I know another mortgage broker who did the same and he ended up in court. However, luckily I acted as his character witness and he got off. I also helped get off 2000 ants dressed up as rice, charged with trying to rob a Chinese restaurant. Wait! I’ve just had a thought! (Why didn’t I think of this before?) Here is how we can finally bring some closure to these trite, petty sqabbles. WHY DONT WE BOTH PUT OUR PICTURES UP ON THE PHOTO GALLERY? Well it’s hardly a secret about my baldness and weight problem. If an Aussie can win Miss Universe then why can’t we? Now you probably realise they don’t call me ‘George Costanza’ for nothing you know. Even so, I’m prepared to try my hardest to shed a few kilos. Whichever of us who can’t lose the most weight must stop this silly banter at once and get on with the business of property investing! Deal? I’ll scan my photo to this site today.
    Regards,
    Gatsby!

You can give up. Just don’t wait until someone tells you that they go through a packet a day
when you reply “Hell, I go through 4 lighters a week!”

    Dear Monopoly,

    “Shall I compare thee,
To a summers day?… Oh I’m sorry, wrong thread? (whoops!). People aren’t just replying to get their points up!! I’m sure there will be many more compliments to come.
    Congratualtions Again!

    Rob,
It’s COOL! Take a seat and have some dip! My message was probably too cryptic, even for ‘Gatsby’. Don’t worry about the shop being closed. Click onto Online Shop and follow the menu re: which product you’re interested in. Delivery is usually no more than a couple of days. I purchased Wealth Guardian and all I can say is that by ‘actively listening’ to it with an ‘open mind’ I’ve gained a lot more ‘understanding’ about my myself as an investor. It’s great to hear of your voluntary work too, having worked in similar fields myself. I don’t know if I’d have the ‘insight’ though for what it takes, etc to be a mortgage broker.
    Cheers,
    Gatsby.!

    Dear Rob,
I get the feeling that as a mortgage broker you appear to be heavily opinionated towards ‘INTEREST ONLY??????’ I also sense that as a broker your more concerned with making more dollars than ‘sense’. I’ve got to hit the sack as it’s late but don’t worry. Funny material and laughter will be added in later.
    Cheers,
    Gatsby

    PS G7,
I’ve tried patches, Nicorettes, Nicohaler, Zyban etc,. However because I’m not physically addicted nothing worked. When you try blowing smoke rings out of a hole in your neck though, you know you’ve got a problem!
    Good luck,
    Gatsby.

    G7,
You read my mind! I’ve currently gone through a stressful period and have taken up the habit (mildly). The strange thing though is that I’m lucky (or so I’m told) in that I only smoke when I drink. The problem is though that I drink everyday! I used to be a weekend drinker. I’d start on Sunday and finish on Saturday! What I seriously don’t understand though is that cigarettes kill more people than heroin, crack and cocaine combined! Why doesn’t somebody come up with a ‘Naltraxone implant’ which is used for alcoholics and heroin addicts to help smokers. No child who is born wants to grow up to be an addict. I find for me it’s not a true nicotine addiction but a physical behaviour. The best thing I find is to replace the behaviour you want to change with one that is incompatible (eg. jogging, weight training, drinking heaps of water, stay away from smokers etc) Let me give this some more thought on this and I’ll re-post.
    Good luck,
    Regards,
    Gatsby.

    Hi Misty,
I would definetely say that you could claim the paint as maintenance, especially as paint fades, bubbles and does require attention. I don’t see this as a capital improvement at all. Just don’t make my mistake. I thought I could save a buck and went and bought ‘used paint!’ It came in the shape of a house!! Good luck!

    Hi Mel,
Thanks for the advice, etc. Yes work has been a bit of a hoover! But it can’t be as bad as the one I had before it. I worked as a carpark attendant at Tullamarine airport. ‘I parked Jets!’ They let me go though because I kept locking the keys in them! One day I was on an 80 foot step ladder trying to get the keys out with a coat hanger!
Hope you and family are well.

    Hi Misty,
I would agree with the above as ironically I’m actually considering doing the same with one of my IP’s. The only problem is that it’s built on a medium strip! When you back out, you’ve got to be going 100km’s an hour!

    Hi Lambsie,
From my armchair amateur knowledge, I think you need to have purchased an investment property to claim the dedustions of books/courses, etc. Just see it as a small cost to investing to save you big costs when you do eventually purchase an investment property.
    Good luck,

    Gatsby.

    Hi Lee,
I recently saw a new accountant from a referral from a mortgage broker who I have great respect for. I asked how much the appointment would cost and I was told it was free. I left with every question answered and some advice to boot. I was also given 2 books the accountant had authored for free. By the same token, I don’t think you can ever spend too much if it will increase your financial education, as it will pay for itself many times over in the long run. Unfortunately it can at times be a trial and error thing. I know this doesn’t answer your question directly, however indirectly, I hope it helps.

I noticed the same also. Heaps of stats on rental mediums but not on house/unit values?

Just on this thread of insurance (the good, the bad and the ugly), what are peoples thoughts on income protection or disability protection? I’d be interested in people’s philosphies and/or experiences on this.
    Cheers,
    Gatsby.
