Ozi,
You have nailed it in ONE! “NUTRITION” is 99.999999% of bodybuilding. Finding what your genetics responds to (eg. super sets, drop sets, one maximum set to failure, etc.) and lagging body parts (eg, calves, etc) that need extra attention is the ‘easy bit’. So to is the discipline of ‘NEVER’ making excuses by missing a work out. If you stick to eating clean ALWAYS, then everything eventually comes together. Don’t focus on the size of the muscle. It’s development/growth will eventually be a side effect of sticking to nutrition and consistency.

I attended a seminar he held a few years ago in Melbourne. On the flyer it stated he was ‘holding the seminar’. When myself and friends arrived, another presenter held the seminar and was recommending property to buy in Sydney (off the plan). I read his book and must admit I did like it. This has only been my experience with him. I’d do a search or if it’s a free event then perhaps attend and make up your own mind.
Kind regards,
Gatsby.Hi Mustang66,
In the audio tape ‘Tales From the Trenches’ there is a story of Nivia Pryor who left school and home at 13 and worked 2 jobs and found a way via property investing. She always takes her children when looking for property. Great interview of someone with determination who could have chosen a much different path.

Gatsby. So what did others think? I’m now wondering why Ray Martin regularly has John Howard on his show (as does The Today Show).

Gatsby.Nice one Calvin! Ditto! You are absolutely right. It is therapy. Humour and property shouldn’t imply that the 2 are mutually exclusive.

Gatsby!…”Self righteous Bible bashing”,… “Me – practising Catholic and ‘PROUD’ of it”,………………. Contradiction????? Nah! No way! At least there was no reference to Buddha! Particulary when most people from “QLD” (?) and “Nth Shore Sydney” (?) resemble Buddha???

Gatsby! Also, re: your comment on Jesus’ instructions to his disciples. Wasn’t there a mention to one of his disciples to “BUILD” a church? Man, talk about buying ‘off the plan!’ Maybe Jesus got it right cruiser? Capital growth, equity and last time I went to church, judging by the plate going around they are definetely POSITIVE CASHFLOW and have a very low vacancy rate (especially on Sundays!).
Cheers,
Gatsby!Cruiser,
I don’t in anyway, shape or form see one’s personal convictions being mutually exclusive to property! Steve has helped more of the needy as a result of his actions. I recall one part of the Bible stating ‘take the plank of wood out of your own eye before removing the splinter from another’ (or words to that effect). Anyway, I’m a Darwinist so have a thought for me! As an aetheist, I miss out on all the public holidays!!!! And if I am a Christian,…. then I forgive you!

ps Also, wasn’t Jesus a carpenter, by trade?Hey Bwendan,
If you are 16 then good on you for having a go with your post mate! In my book (still waiting to be published!) there are no wrong questions to ask. Use the advice from all the above to keep learning. Good luck!

“Unquiet meals make ill digestions”
-William Shakespeare, The Comedy of Errors. At the risk of trying to second guess your specific goal (which is all I’m trying to do), I take it that your goal/s are not bodily goal orientated. Your goal is to stay at a constant mental peak level (?). If this is the case (and again, I’m just assuming this) then over a one day period on an ‘average diet’ (including with lets say lasagna as the main meal of the day), you will be taking in food that would mean that on an average day your body will be taking in about 6 pounds of water, over a 1/4 of a pound of fat and about a fifth of a pound of protein and about a pound of carbohydrates.
Total: over seven pounds of food and water. This is then transported and broken down from the initial salivary glands, enzymes in the saliva, through the esophagus into the stomach (and broken down by hydrochloric acids), then on to the smaller intestine via the stomach’s pyloric valve, then on to the colon (large intestine) where it will take another 2 to 3 days to be passed out. What finally comes out in the end is less than half a pound of waste. Almost no fat, protein or carbohydrate is left, with the exception of the carbohydrate in indigestible fibre.
By way of summary,
there are so many variables involved, even before planning a diet/program that will help achieve your goals. Start with your current baseline/ metabolic rate (as mentioned previously) and find out how you can best define your goal and then work towards it. The hardest thing is trying to measure, let alone define the goal. I hope this has been of some help (if not confusion, my apologies?) to you.

Gatsby!Hi unannounced,
I’m not aware of any websites however the above ones sound like they would be great. Feel free to pm me if you wish and let me know what your goals are if you like (ie. gain weight/muscle, lose weight/muscle, improve fitness, diet, etc?)
Cheers,
Gatsby!Dear Kay,
Thanks for your reply and as always, many thanks also for your resourceful wealth of knowledge. I will look up what you have recommended.
Kind regards,
Gatsby!Hi 3MR,
I would have to agree with most if not all of the replies already given. Dazzling has raised a good point in that it depends mostly on your financial/family situation. Also you state that you are new to Australia. In that respect I would recommend renting as cheap as possible. If you buy to live in you would want to do the same due diligence in buying as you would if you were buying an investment property. It may take some time to look around for a PPOR if you are hoping to buy right with the aim of maximizing the use of capital growth to purchase another IP. Also, how disciplined are you/your family in sacrificing now for a better time ahead financially? One couple in the book you read sold their home, lived in the mother in laws garage, took out a second mortgage on mother in laws house and used the money to invest! This obviously an extreme example. The point I guess I’m making is how badly do you want to make a decision that’s right for you.

Gatsby!Dear landt64, Phil, Rogermoore, emcdonald, wanna be rich, Rob, et al,
Thanks for your support and concern re: work place bullying. Yesterday we had the meeting.
In short it went completely pear shaped. The only thing I won out of it was being able to stay composed. I walked into the room which was the size of a toilet cubicle with a table the size of an ashtray! The bombshell though was when I saw that my boss chose my ‘ex girlfriend’ as her union rep!!! I could have cancelled the meeting, however I thought ‘No, this is just an extension of more bullying from my boss on a psychological level’ so I just let the meeting go ahead. I was also if anything too prepared. I was given 10 minutes to support my claim of bullying against my boss for issues I had documented over the past 2/3 years!!!!!. Then we broke for smoko. Then they had 10 minutes to refute my accusations, then we would break again. Then I had ten minutes to show more evidence, break again for a breather and then THEY (my boss and her union rep/ex girlfriend!) came back with a proposed resolution with managemant!!!!! Last week management were telling me she was going to be moved. When I saw them in the meeting they were nervous/joking and sugar coating the whole issue. I didn’t expect management to be on my side anyway but it ended with ‘So how can we help you Adrian with a resolution to help you go back to work??’ My boss and her union rep came back in the final 10 minutes with an apology for my boss’ poor communication skills!!!! The best analogy I can give was that it was akin to a boxing match and in 10 rounds I knocked my boss out 3 times but she won on points!! I was pretty flat yesterday but today I just feel a sense of relief that the whole build up is over and I must give credit to my ex girlfriend for maintaing a level of professionalism. Also, at least it’s on my boss’ record now but as someone said ‘the whistle blower always loses out’. I just feel sorry (not in a detrimental way) for the staff who work there and will now have to deal with a raging bull. Oh, and at the close of the meeting we all had to agree that whatever was said in the meeting cannot be mentioned to any staff, etc once the meeting ended. So it’s like I’ve got a gag order now, yet my boss’ sister (who is out on bullying) is an employee and do they really believe that my boss won’t be talking about me to her?
Anyway I just wanted to air it off my chest so sorry for the long winded follow up. I’ve taken the week off and I’m still to see my union rep (who was great by the way) to come back to management with how we felt the issue of bullying was never tackled and dismised every time I brought the issue up.
