Hi All,
Thanks for your feedback regarding Geoff Doidge’s Book, i have ordered it and hopefully it will be here in a couple of days, looking forward to some good reading.
Hi bryo,
I recently received a free real estate investing info pack from Hans Jakobi, there is some good info and tips in the pack, but it is intended to steer you to his $3000+ home study course. He seems to be reasonably genuine, has been investing in property for a lot of years so has a lot of experience.I can’t afford that much at the moment as my wife and i are in the middle of a reno, so all our spare cash goes into this, maybe a little down the track we will look at it.He has a website so have a look at this, http://www.realestatesecrets.com.au
Cheers

Hi Beerboy,
This guy must have tickets on himself[V], i think he has done you a favour, now you can look for another financial adviser who will deal with you without having to have 100k before he will talk to you.
Cheers

I’m thinking of buying a townhouse in Logan area (Woodridge, Logan Central, Slacks Creek) around $130000. I don’t expect it to be cash positive but rather to have good capital grow. Comparing to Melbourne where I come from, there is still room for price grow. Anybody knows a good solicitor in that area. Any other thoughts about the area, current market and future trends?
Thanks in advance,

To answer your question about a solicitor in the area , you might want to contact O’dwyer & Bradley, Phone 07 3208 1488, i thinh you will find them to be OK.

Hi Jaja,
I have lived in the Logan area now for over 20 years, a good part of the time in Woodridge. I recently bought another house in the woodridge area to live in after being out of the area for 3 years. There has been good capital growth in the last 12 months, starting to slow now though. A good unit or townhouse can still be found in tne area for less than $130000 if you look hard enough. One thing that really annoys me is the way people knock the area and talk about gangs, low socio-economics, crime etc etc etc [!], we don’t have much more trouble here than most areas of Brisbane, or Sydney, Melbourne etc for that matter. It is like any city, it has it’s good areas and it has it’s bad areas. To all those who hear the bad publicity don’t knock it on heresay.Over the years there has been some issues and mud sticks as they say.The area is growing and investors from down south have recognised this and have been buying property here like it is going out of fashion. I suppose i am prejudiced because i live here, but it is really not that bad.[]

What are your views on credit cards. Some opinions i have heard.
Cut them
Burn them
treasure them for a rainy day
Spend with them then pay of each month with LOC
Never pay interest on them
Any thoughts
alf
G’day Alf,
I believe a credit card used wisely can be beneficial, used unwisely can be a disaster. The banks are partially to blame for the situation of some gullible people by offering higher credit limits to those who really can’t afford them.I know it’s up to the individual to say no to these offers, but some people are weak where money is concerned. My personal experience with a credit card is this, i have a card with a high limit and was working as a casual in my job, though i was working 40 hours every week.My wife and i applied for a housing loan, the bank would not take my income into account because of my casual status but would take my credit card limit as a debt, therefore they rejected our application. My wife applied on her own and the loan was approved. The system stinks.
There is nothing on their website about the home study course. We attended their 3 hour Perth one. Was very inspiring. If we lived in South East Qld we would definitely have gone to their Gold Coast 3 day seminar. Just wasn’t practical from here as you lose so many days with flying time and stuff like that. We would be interested in the home study course tho. Might email them and ask for details. Thanks for your post.
Fibejebe.
Hi FibeJebe,
They only had a limited number of the home study courses available, 47 i think. The courses were only available to past seminar attendees, i’m surprised you didn’t receive the offer. If you don’t have any luck i still have the info and the order form. You are welcome to it if you want it.Please email me if you want it.
I attended their Brisbane seminar just recently, found it very interesting.Of course they were pushing their workshop which is the main reason for their seminars. I have just received an offer in the mail from Morgan Pacific. It seems they are winding up their seminars for the moment and concentrating more on their property investing (probably due to lack of interest due to the bad publicity re Henry Kaye saga )and are offering a special deal on a home study course containing all the workshop material plus some, still costs over $3000 though.I don’t think i will be taking up their offer.
Cheers
Tony
