It would be a very sad world if no one had any morals, but i believe everyone knows in their own heart when to apply those morals depending on the situation.Where your hard earned money is concerned and you are buying a property at auction, the head should rule the heart and emotions and morals should be kept at a minimum. I have not been placed in this situation as yet so i can only say what i think i would do if it happened to me.Please Monopoly [worried]don’t bring your wrath upon me for my opinion.

I do have goals, my major one is to be financially independant and retired from the general workforce at 55, (47 now so only 8 years to go, i have to work smarter ). I have a problem writing my goals down as i change them so often.

I also watched it and i agree companies like this give the genuine wrappers a bad name.[angry2][thumbsdownanim I feel sorry [glum]for the family caught up in this as they only wanted what most Australian families want and that is a home to call their own, however from what i saw they signed contracts without getting them checked by their solicitor. If the company would not let their solicitor view the documents alarm bells should have started ringing and they should have walked away.

Hi Ginamarree,
I guess you’re right, we’ll just have to agree to disagree about Woodridge, i get a little carried away on this subject from time to time. I don’t think it would be appropriate for me to rubbish certain areas on this forum, it could just open up a can of worms.I would be quite happy to discuss this subject with you via PM if you wish. I’m curious, do you have any investment properties in this area, if you do how are they performing?.By the way, which area did you move to.?
Cheers

Isn’t it sad how most people tend to dwell on the negative aspects of a particular area and do not think of or mention the positive aspects, we are all guilty of this at some time.As i have said before all suburbs have their good and bad areas, i must have been lucky to have only lived in the better areas of Woodridge, but i also have lived in the area on and off for over 30 years and have learnt to recognise the areas to stay away from.I have never been broken into or burgled in Woodridge, we built a house in Regents Park, moved in in 1997, got broken into and robbed within 6 months, it happens everywhere!

Congratulations RussH on giving up the dreaded gaspers, its great to be able to breath properly again and to be able to taste food again isn’t it.I gave up 11 years ago after smoking for over 20 years. it was hard at first but it was the best thing i ever did.I now ask myself why i ever started, can’t stand the smell of smoke or other smokers, they say reformed smokers are the worst. I put on quite a bit of weight though after. Several years ago i had a work accident and injured my back, part of my rehabilitation process was to lose some weight and do more exercise. I lost 10 kilos and was walking for 30 minutes every day, i felt great. Slowly though i got slack and stopped walking regularly and put the weight back on. I am working on it again and have lost about 6 kilos and am starting to feel better again, have to really push myself though as i have lost the enthusiasm i once had, must be old age creeping in i think.Anyway good luck with it all and just keep telling yourself you do not need cigarettes.

Isn’t it funny how we all have opinions, as a resident of Logan for many years, and a community worker there, I would have said that crestmead was a better area than Marsden, opinions from us forumites are great, but don’t forget to do your own research SMARTMONEY
Browns plains, boronia heights, crestmead, hillcrest ( I have had property in these areas, lived in these areas, and been quite happy – parents live in boronia heights)
I tend to agree with Castledreamer, i currently have my ppor in Woodridge and have also lived in Browns Plains and Regents Park, one of my daughters has lived in Marsden for a couple of years with no problems. They are all reasonabely good areas to buy in at your price range, just do your own research to pick the best areas of the suburb you choose, they all have their good and bad areas.4118 postcode areas also tend to attract a slightly higher insurance premium.
Sounds quite high to me, we purchased in September 03 and solicitors costs were $450 + $340 for searches etc. At the time i thought this was reasonable, have since heard of Conveyancing works costs of $295, will be going there in future.
G’Day Scott,
The title to our house is in my wife’s name only at the moment, we enquired about refinancing with our current lender and they want both names on the title if they take both incomes into consideration. The costs to us would have been solicitors fees of $385, this would vary of course depending on your solicitor, and stamp duty on half of the current valuation of the property.

Something to think about, remember the days of the Whitlam Government[blink], the 18% interest rates etc. etc.[weird], scary stuff. Guess who is Latham’s mentor, Whitlam of course, dare we go there again[glum2].

I live in Logan at the moment and bought our current ppor for $115k in September, private sale, got a good deal and needs renovating, nothing for that price now though..There are still some good houses to be bought in the $175k to $200k range if you look around.
Cheers

Have just finished reading the book, purchased present ppor in September 04 and are renovating. After reading book we have decided to either rent, sell or wrap, not sure yet, and purchase another ppor.
