    Steve,

Will you be repeating the MAP program? And how did you select the applicants? Hope these aren’t dumb questions but if I told you that I had watched 3 hours of TV in the past couple of months, I would be exaggerating.

    Bye,

    Matt,
You mention that your Grandad gave you the funds for investment or education. What a wise man he is. You also mentioned that you plan to go to Uni to do business studies. Will property investment effect your austudy? Will you be able to support yourself thru Uni on your part time job?

Grandfathers are one of the best assets we can have. When I was about 18, my Grandfather told me “you are going to be a bum just like your father!” When I was 20 I started my nursing training and everytime I contemplated quitting I wondered “what would grandad say to me!” I was too scared of him to find out. 20 years later, I have made a very successful career for myself and have a number of investments, because I wanted to prove to my Grandad that I was not a bum like my biological father.

Grandad is now 95 and I love him dearly. He was my inspiration.

    Fibejebe.

PS. Sorry that I can’t give you any advise as to what to do with your 50K. Just wanted to tell you how special Grandads are.

They lied, they lied!! I got on at 1645 Wednesday and the forum was closed. OMG what am I supposed to do with a boring Wednesday evening? I break out in a sweat. I check for a rash. Phew – nothing visable. I persevere. And it pays off. At 1920 parts of the forum are open again. Sigh of relief. I will survive another evening.

Totally off topic (again) [:P] but it pays to periodically look yourself up on a good search engine. I use web ferret. I gave a deputation to council last year and a couple of months later did a search on my name and found they had put my details on the net – without my permission. I phoned them and asked them to remove it, which they did.

Thanks for the link Kay Henry. I was aware of the schemes they had to drop. There is a link in my first post with a more detailed history on it. https://www.propertyinvesting.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3199 (Rowan W’s post) Are you aware of any other problems with “The investors club” and Kevin Young? As other’s have mentioned, like all investments, do your DD and get independent valuations.

The remainder of your article posted was also very interesting. Looks like there could be huge ramifications – especially with a major bank being accused. It said it should be finalised by the end of the year. Are you aware of any conclusions to date?

    Congratulations Mortgage Hunter

Guess this is evidence as to how fast the forum is growing – the need for more hands on deck to assist. Congrats to Steve also.

    Awww Bear,
What are you suggesting here? That we should ask Bec to debate the positive aspects of wrapping?? [;)]

I think the best thing about debating at school was that it made you go out and do the research. Probably one of the few things we were actually taught that followed thru to adult life. Guess it equates with the term due diligence. And yes, the fact that I don’t have to be wrong in order for you to be right is the win/win principle.

Not so much hostility, more like frustration I would say. I just haven’t got the time to play games. If you have an article of interest to others then give the URL of the article. As I have mentioned, I looked for the article Bec was referring to and the search returned the response “No articles found. Please enter another search.” I haven’t got time to waste looking for a needle in a haystack.

I am all for debate, but I feel in this thread we have nothing substantial to debate at this stage. Long time since I was at high school, but in those days (in the debating team I was in) we had to provide evidence to back up our argument. That is what distinguishes a legitimate debate from a verbal brawl (in my opinion.)

Apologies to anyone who found my tone harsh in the previous post, but I kinda believe that if you have something to say, then say it. This dropping hints and innuendos is not really my style. We are all adults here. No way are we going to agree with everything every one says. But if you have an opinion, either express it directly or shut up. Don’t just elude to something.

I guess Steve has to protect himself from your slanderous comments that have absolutely no factual basis. Sure, you are entitled to your opinion in a democratic society. But to start and/or spread malicious gossip without foundation is not really acceptable here in Australia.

If you have genuine concerns about KY’s business practice then either show proof or quit whinging.

A more obvious case. The NT govt decided to legalise and legitamise euthanasia under certain circumstances. Little johnny howard didn’t like this thought, so introduces a FEDERAL law overriding and immediately “trumping” and nullifying the state law.

NT is a TERRITORY and not a state hence why the federal government could overturn the euthanasia laws. It would not have been able to interfere had NT been a legitimate state.

Guess it happens in any deal tho doesn’t it? My most recent PPOR was in a block of 14 townhouses. 10 of us paid 290K to 330K each and the 4 developers paid 150K each and got the pick of the uints. We subsidised them over 600K (150K each.) Between the 10 of us, that’s 60K added to our initial price isn’t it? That’s business!! And one of these days when I am a developer someone will be subsidising my investments.

    Bec,
Thanks for your comments. I went to the Newstext site and typed “kevin young” in the searches (national, QLD, NSW etc) and it kept returning No articles found. Please enter another search. What am I doing wrong? Can you give me a bigger hint by actually naming the newspaper that has the reports on KY? So far, I am drawing a blank. Couldn’t even find where to spend my dollar. LOL.

I have checked out the ASIC report that you mention (it is reproduced in one of the links I gave in my first message on this thread) and (like LLJack) I was under the impression that it had been investigated and it was just the insurance thing should the property be vacant for any period.

Your comment for LLJack as far as him having “a psychological need to justify and protect your decision. I understand.” You may understand that, but I don’t. For ourselves, we are only at the EOI stage. Despite your warnings of dire consequence should we proceed, you have failed to provide me with any factual information as to why we shouldn’t. I do not have any psychological need to justify anything. And for me, this is not about my emotional mind, but my rational mind wanting answers. As mentioned, we will do our DD as far as independant valuation etc etc, prior to going ahead with it. This thread is part of that DD in asking whether others have had dealings with KY.

I have even searched Neil Jenmans site to see what he has to say, and thus far a big nothing. I am sure he would be flapping his gums if he believed there was a problem with KY.

Your new year prediction intrigues me. Is it just a hunch?

Thank you everyone for your comments.

Bec: Do you have first hand experience with the club or know anyone who has, in order for you to make the comment “be careful. Be very careful.”

Chefman: I know where you are coming from when you mention hype. I think there are many investors on this board who have been through one, two, three or more different MLM opportunities. Hey, we are here because we want to be rich. We have tried everything. We don’t just sit on our butts hoping to win lotto. We are go-getters. For myself, I sat at silver producer in Amway and watched my business fall around me because to achieve silver I overtook my upline. Despite the fact that I had my directs and pearls tell me this was OK, I learnt that blood is thicker than water. When your sponsor is your brother in law, do not overtake them. They help you get there. They can also destroy your downline. So here we are. Now looking to make money on our own. Not reliant on anyone elses effort. Motivation is good. Hype is a pain in the butt. And KY mimics the MLM hype. Haven’t we all heard it before?? Do we really need to hear it again?

Spider: I agree. I do not go with that borrow your life savings away in retirement stuff.

LiverpoolHarry: Mate. I hear you loud and clear. Get an independant valuation.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Much appreciated.
