After visiting the Council let me tell you the lady behind the desk is about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike… []
After making me tell the whole story of what i wanted to do she then tells me she can’t help me, and the planner is unavailable – i guess it would have been nice to tell me that earlier !!
There’s 40 minutes of my life gone… and damnit i have to go back tomorrow !! []
Ahh well, there’s some saying about being persistant right ?? []
Cheers,
Paul…

I want to retire at 30. Well, that’s my goal, but what I’m really trying to do is retire this coming January. That will be before 30!!
Hey Mel, wanna get married ?? [:0)]
I need a woman that knows whats she is doing – i should be where you are but have only just started to grow up and look at IP’s…
(No offence intended by the way !! [] )
As for retirement age i’m guessing 45 – in about 13 years time. My goal is to have about 10 IP’s @ an average of $150 in todays terms, that’d give me $1,500 a week before tax – i can live on that… []
Then i’ll sell my Sydney property (it’s worth more than 3 times what i paid in ’93) to buy my dream home in Queensland…
I can then look forward to days of racing my circuit car, playing golf, going fishing, taking holidays etc – Sounds tough huh ?? []
Cheers,
Paul…

Did anyone actually buy Steve’s book EXPECTING to become a millionaire by spending $30 ?? []
If so, you have got to be kidding !! It’s a toe in the water so to speak, and outlines what is required and a smart way to go about it…
If after reading the book you are prepared to push on then you pay for the knowledge you will gain by attending seminars etc… Anyone who whinges about having to spend money with Steve to gain some of his information should consider how much their accountant / financial advisor would charge to give them the same sort of knowledge –
Then ask yourself has your accountant actually gone and bought multiple positive cashflow properties ?? Will you get the right advice ??
I don’t go to see a butcher when i need to tile my bathroom – i go to and pay an expert in the field i need… Same goes for Steve in this case.
I’ve only just started getting serious about property and looking at early retirement, attending one of Steve’s seminars is high on my list of things to do asap… []
Just my thoughts anyway…
Cheers,
Paul…

I’ve learnt that it’s not funny to laugh at others.
My boss went “a over t” at work, and i found it damn funny – about 2 hrs later i did the same thing on the same carpet mat !! []
Needless to say my OH&S skills got a boost from tossing the offending mat away… []

I’d persoanlly like to get a newborn, wrap it 18mths, then get it back about the same time they are old enough to pay board… []
On a serious note, i really worry about the future of superannuation. I still have more than 25 years to go, (if i’m not as smart as think and have to work to 55) and i don’t believe there will be any “payout” when i retire. Instead i think i will get an indexed pension, which i have paid for. For this reason i refuse to pay anything above my employers compulsory contributions…
My goal is to have enough properties to provide me with a comfortable lifestyle in retirement.
Perhaps the Government could cut us some slack on charges until you own say half a dozen properties ??
Cheers,
Paul…

Thanks for the replies – what i meant by getting the old man on board is that he has experience with owner builder stuff – not actual subdivision of an existing property…
That’s why i was asking about councils etc… []

Paul…

beanie & Phillipa: Where there is a will there is a way… []
I have battled a chronic stomach condition for the last 4 years – sometimes it’s hard for me to even walk due to cramps etc and i’ve even had to give up a job i loved and become an office worker (ok, it was a promotion anyway, but i wouldn’t have gone for the job if i was 100% fit !!).
Don’t give up hope, as i got worse i was motivated by what i wanted to achieve – and the doctors have told me it’s also stress related and my job now is even more highly pressurised, but i am determined to succeed. I’ve passed the 30 mark now and intend to retire and be living by the beach in Nth Queensland in 10 years time…
Funnily enough when i was healthy i took everything for granted and never really thought of the future – now that i appreciate what it’s like to be ill i’m more determined to succeed…
All the best,
Paul…
“The only thing you get from looking backwards is a sore neck…”
By the way, i’m just trying to “think outside the square” so to speak… []
If i went ahead i’d do it owner builder so i know exactly what is happening – i have never done it but the old man has (spent 400k to create a 700k property, so he has proven he knows what to do and has heaps of good tradesmen).
I think this could be a golden opportunity towards my ultimate goal… The first step is always the hardest right ??
Cheers,
Paul…
“The only thing you get from looking backwards is a sore neck…”
Thanks Bill, i figured you might have some good advice !! []
I take it you mean make sure i can get it approved, then find out the developed properties “real world” price and then offer the block as a “subdivision potential” to the developers direct ??
Or did i miss something ?? []
Cheers,
Paul…

Hey Arty, my old man was bald at 26, so i’m either defying logic or the milkman had plenty of hair… []
At the moment dear old Dad (he’s 52) has a totally shaved head and a new goatee beard – He didn’t think it was funny when i suggested he had put his head on upside down though…. []
Hope your kids are nicer to you than i am to my old man… []
Cheers,
Paul…

clownsta: I’m not sure how it works, i’ve been with the same employer in various positions for nearly 14 years… []
I hoped you might have had the same sort of benefits i used to do some investing a few years back that’s all… []
Cheers,
Paul…
