Thanks so much for the two reports Mike.  Replied in less than an hour…you don't get that kind of service very often, especially when it is free.  Thanks again for you help.

    Hey Jess,

Sounds like it was well worth it! I'm glad that you enjoyed it and are glad that you did it.

I'm really looking forward to going in a few weeks now, wish that I had been there this weekend.
I sent you an email..just wondering if you got it?  Would love to catch up after I have done it.

    Cheers

Can't wait to hear what you think of it Jess.  Looking forward to your feedback.

Tina, I haven't heard of the 'women in property' seminars..will have to look into it, as I am also from melb.

Hi dbliss – I am going on the 12th & 13th June – so less than 2 weeks now! Pity its not the same workshop as you… we could've introduced ourselves! However, after you've attended the workshop in July, if you are interested in catching up to discuss ideas etc, please PM me and let me know. Always good to have likeminded people to chat to!

    Cheers

Hey Jess, just tried to pm you and either I can't figure it out, or I can't do it!!  Would love to get in contact, maybe see if you can pm me??

Thanks for the info rustychook.  That is kinda what I was hoping to hear!!

Good luck to them making that much money from a weekend of talking…wish I could do it!  It's not like they aren't giving you anything for the money you give them.  The reason people don't succeed after doing these types of courses is because they don't apply themselves and give up if it just 'too hard'.

JessW would love to catch up, it is always good to chat to people who are on the same path as you…will pm you.

Hi guys – I'm off to the workshop in Melbourne in a couple of weeks… so I will certainly leave some feedback for you all then!

I've made the decision to invest in property, and hopefully make it my full-time job (other than being mum!), so I feel it is important to gain as much education and information off people in the know. With any luck Stephen Tolle and Cherie Barber will be a wealth of information for me…. albeit an expensive one!

Anyhow, I'll let you all know how it goes…..

    Cheers
    Jess

Are you going on july 3rd and 4th??  I am going to that one myself and am really looking forward to it.  Like you, I am going to make this my full time career..along with being a mum.

And while 5K is a lot of money, people pay more for a new TV… it all depends on what you do with the information you are given, as with anything, it is always up to you.

I am also happy to come back and give feedback

I live very close to Tarneit and I wouldn't buy there.  Basically, it is a big housing development, and while it is close to the plaza there are a lot of closer properties cheaper (OK older as well).  Driving around I see a lot of 'for rent' signs on properties and they don't seem to be picked up too fast (mainly this is in hoppers crossing, but hoppers is much closer to train station, shops and schools).  And the new housing estates just seem to keep multiplying, getting to the city for work is a nightmare…trains are always full and not on time and the freeway…forget it.  I think that people move out here to buy, not to rent.

Not sure if this helps…and it is just my opinion….good luck with whatever you decide

I have two young children and agree with what has been posted so far.  You will know your kids better than anyone else and really are in the best position to teach them what type of person you want them to be (much easier said than done!!).  Our eldest is 4 and we encourage her to pay for things when at the shops…this gives her an appreciation that things cost money and once the money is gone there is no more spending.  She is also encouraged to save (she has a piggy bank) and we get her to put money in tins for charity when we see them.  What you do with yours will depend on your own values and whatever you choose will need to be right for you and your family.  We are also very open and talk about money and our situation  (my parents never did this with us and I think it was a mistake).  You do you need to be very careful, you don't want to stress them out with problems…that isn't their job to worry about, but I think that it is important for them to understand that there is only a certain amount of money and things that have to be paid before you get to spend on whatever you want.  We also involve them as much as they want with our property investment.  I don't want to put them off by forcing it (I know they are only little, but I am practising for when they are older), so I answer any questions and let her look at whatever she wants and I try to explain what I am doing and why I am doing it.  Kids learn (I think) much more by seeing what we do, rather than us telling them what to do.  All you can do is your best and then hope for a good outcome!

Good luck with everything and enjoy being a parent…it certainly is a fun experience!

I was in this position when we bought our ppor 9 years ago.  We had no problems, all I had to do was get a letter from my employer and we were good.  That was 9 years ago though…guessing things have changed a bit since then!!
