    Wow!

It’s so great to have so many knowledgable heads all together in one place! I’m hooked! I’m so intregued, I can’t even hear my kids moaning and fighting with eachother! It’s so therapeutic![^]

I’m heading back to NZ in November after 2yrs in the UK. I know I want to start up my portfolio of IP’s in NZ but where???? My Dad has 10 acres and 3 bed place up in Dargaville…he’s not lived there yet as has been visiting me over here. Does anyone have any insight on property up Northland way??? All I know is you can buy a 3bd family home on 1/4 for $80k….Should I just grab one of those freehold, rent it out, then borrow against it to buy another prop say in wgtn/kapiti coast, where the rest of my family live???

I’m just a umming and arring here!

Any advice? I too am just a newbie in the NZ market. Just sold my first ever house here in the uk. I bought it a year ago for £39k…just sold it for £74k. It would be a big deal if I was staying on here….but i’m not! I’m sending it on to NZ and getting those NZD’s.

Thanks again to everyone who has taken part in this discussion…i’m now a clued up woman!

    Regards

Just my wee input to this topic coming up….

Well, I am a 26yr old mother of a 7 and a 5 yr old. Two yrs ago I had a 5-10yr plan to get out of debt and save a deposit for a house! Just after I made that plan ( and not according to plan) I cashed in my shares and bought us tickets to the UK….I came first, then my partner and kids came 3mnths later. I found a job and a place to rent (£450pcm), I thought stuff this and just tried my luck at a 100% mtge…It paid off, not only were my mtge payments only £230pcm, I transformed my house in the year we lived here, and have made a £30k profit…By taking well researched risks, I have flown passed my 10yr plan in just under two years!!! Now it’s back home to Wgtn NZ next month (can’t wait) and it’s time to try the it out over there. I think kids are only hold you back if you let them! Kids can adapt to all kinds of things much quicker than adults can!
I had a lot of people think I was mad uprooting them to the unknown in the UK, I think they may be eating their words around about now!!!
Plus, kids can be good little helpers to, ripping off wallpaper without getting told off….every kids dream!

    Hi MiniMogul,

I’ve lived most my life in the Eastern/Southern Suburbs. Lived in a 2 bd flat in Lyall Bay for a couple of years….I would’ve loved to have bought there, and had a sneaky suspision it was going to take off, but I thought with my two years away, I may have missed the boat? Now they have just had permission granted for the artificial reef to go ahead, I think it’ll bring all kinds of people and business to the area. Oooh, I’m all excited about going home now, and let the search begin!

Thanks for your comments and suggestions, i’ll be checking out those websites right away, and making a few calls. Wish me luck – this will be my first property in NZ, and apparently it’s much harder to buy over there?

I bought my first house ever in Manchester (UK) a year ago with 100% LTV, a risk that paid off! I’ve just sold with an increase of value of practically 100%….I reasearched the areas I could actually afford like mad, and simply made the right choice!

It’s funny really…I am a young mother of two, and decided to make a move over here two yrs ago…people thought I was mad at the risk of just uprooting like that as I didn’t have any money! Then I get here, get an average job and decide to buy a house with 100% mtge…once again people think i’m made at the risk…even local people questioned my move…and in 1 year, i’ve reached my original 5-10 yr plan! Howzat! It was so easy to buy over here, and I halved my monthly outgoings by living in the property….but, now I have that growth to be able to go home and (fingers crossed) start my cashflow portfolio.

    Thanks again for your advice!
