    Interesting journalism.

    What is a “sharemarket” ?

I’ve heard of a “share market” [:P] but a “bear sharemarket” made me giggle. The author obviously has absolutely NO idea about equities.

13 posts and already you have a reputation as a pain in the ass?

didnt your mum ever teach you “if ya aint got nuthin good to say, shut the hell up before I slap you into next week”

also, a wise man once told me:

“if you do not respect someone, why care what they say about you?”

    think about it

im quite certain nobody takes a serial whiner seriously…..

ps mel, I reckon you must have some security option enabled which is causing that problem.

actually the investors were sucked in by the car valuation scam (how he ‘legally’ obtained the funds from the public to invest) and promised to make a fortune trading currencies with it. he failed as a trader and resorted to nigerian type scams to get the money back.

    stupid is as stupid does

    Yikes

did some rough “back of envelope” calcs:

    house cost – $315k
interest only loan = $400 wk
    each unit rents for – 180 wk x 2 = $360
    ie loss $40

    but selling:

    house cost – $315k
    building cost – $35k
    sell each unit for $200k = $400k
    = profit $50k

A lot of economics is chicken and egg stuff, or symptom and disease……ie if A and B occur, did A cause B or did B cause A?

You know what they say, lay a million economists end to end around the world and they still wont reach a conclusion!

“2.Property falls because the sharemarket takes off, causing interest rates to rise. Also because investors simply jump on the faster bandwagon.”

I meant to say: Property falls (or stagnates)because the economy takes off, causing interest rates and the sharemarket to rise.

    Is this accurate? Who knows!

There is no “international” market. There are markets in nearly every country, and that country will have a commission that regulates its own market.

    1. Property becomes unpopular so average investors turn back to the share market lifting it considerably.

Property is the passive side of the investment cycle. That is, people will pile into real estate when shares perform poorly. However, investors do not generally sell property and pile into the sharemarket because property is performing poorly.

2 A major correction in property could dramatically decrease household savings which may pull back the share market.

Property falls because the sharemarket takes off, causing interest rates to rise. Also because investors simply jump on the faster bandwagon.

3 A property bust causes a economy wide recession meaning the share market drops also.

A property bust doesnt cause a recession, but a recession does cause a property bust. Economic recovery and / or sharemarket pickup also causes property bust.

“at the end of the 1st one he was superhuman (while in the matrix) and in the 2nd he was just very good, he seemed to have lost his power ?”

You kidding right? He was flying at the speed of sound and fighting 100 agent smiths at once!

I agree though, the 2nd one was a letdown. There were no new plots really, just a rehash of the first. We discovered the oracle was a program, and met the architect, discovering the “matrix cycle”. Agent smith is out of control but who cares. Still, a bad matrix movie is still better than a bad regular movie……

well that $200k equity could be redrawn at 6%, and invested in anz shares at 12%, giving you a 6% difference on $200k = $12,000 p.a. Thats not including any option writing which could earn another $40k – $80k.

“Just prior to a peak in Canberra, August 1994
the number of Rental columns grew from 18 to 44.
From then on it was downhill…prices fell 25% over a relatively short period. Some units, and the bottom end of the market fell nearly 50% and towns within an hour or two suffered the same fate.”

See westan, large percentage falls DO happen…..

Raymond gives me the shits, just another dumb yank show about dumb yanks being dumb, ignorant, fat and useless.

I like CSI, but CSI miami aint as good. If David Carruso puts out another one of his “blatantly obvious” educated observations Im gonna puke. Honestly the writer should be shot.

    CNNN is great.

I miss old comedy shows like “The Comedy Club”.

I still love the simpsons but getting sick of repeats.

All these reality shows need to bugger off so I can sit in front of the tv and let my mind go numb (like a yank). lol

Picking the market is for suckers.

Thats why I teach people how to make money from stocks without picking direction.
