Just wondering if you have made any progress issacsmum?
We have paid our 5% deposit and are awaiting our final drawings to submit to cancel. I am anticipating approx 4 weeks for the drawings. The sales service has still been superb thus far, and althought our builder has begun any work he has been accomadating with changes offering the flexibilty of variations on the quote or dealing with him directly.

Hi Dutchie, we are currently in the process of building with them right now. We have just paid our 5% deposit and are awaiting our final drawings. There was a nother thread on this site that I was referring to when I was in the decision making phase that had a lot of input regarding NBG. My experience so far has been great. My salesman has been good and my builder accomadating.  In the previous thread, most posters tended to be of the opinion that it depends on your local NBG builder more than anything. if you are happy with him, then you're looking good. Price wise they are hard to beat, we are miles in front price wise and the banks valuers have valued the property $34,000 more than my buildings costs as we had a lot of extras indcluded free of charge such as the garage, choise of facade spa in ensuite, colourbond roof and other smaller extras.  As for the job, well I will keep you posted as the work begins but if you can find the other thread there was satisfied and dissatisfied customers.

Thanks norby, im not too sure on the regions, will check into that, but we are also in the country so building is a little more expensive for us.
    Take care

LUCKYSTAR I actually said i got my quote in 14 days not my contract! If I accept the quote I then pay $1250 to go ahead and have plans and contracts drawn. If you have not paid this additional amount then this is why you have not received your plans or contracts.
It seems that anybody thats posts something on this forum that is positive is accused of being a NBG employee or salesperson.

Further to this, I think paying $750 for a quote is wrong also, but its important to remember that you get the $750 fully refunded if you do not go ahead after the quote. Its only after you accept the quote that you pay a further $1250 and that $2000 is then not refundable.
I think this is a problem as most banks will not loan money until they have viewed contracts and plans and can do a valuation based on these. To cover bases we have made contact with our bank to ensure we can borrow the quoted amount and have contacted local real estate agents to establish that the building costs are well and truly below the market value of what the house will be worth complete. The bank will hoefully view the property as being worth the costs involved to have it built.

luckystar, I hope you have had a very merry xmas and would appreciate if you would see my posts for what they really are, and that is just as honest analysis of our experience thus far dealing with NBG and I will post negative and positives as I view them.
To call me a salesperson for NPB and recommend I look elsewhere suggests to me that you are in opposition to NPB but then again, I would never accuse you of that.

Thanks for the new feedback. We have actually paid our $750 deposit and the quote was back in 14 days and the guy even agreed to deliver it on his holidays (NBG take 4 weeks over the xmas period) I guess the service would depend on which office you deal through and how busy they are???

In regards to the quote we were fairly pleased, the cost didnt blow out too much at all. A couple of items that i thought were over priced by a few grand actually came in cheaper than when i supplied my plan to local installers. i also got quotes for similar homes from local builders with good reps and found that i am about $40K better off with NBG. I was also told by a local builder that the bigger the floorplan the cheaper th sq price becomes as an example he quoted a 19sp home at around 12k a sq while a 31sq came down to around 10k a sq.

My salesman was quite upfront about changes to thier plans explaining that if you dont change much you save a lot but once you start altering or implimenting plans the costs can blow out.
Will keep you updated after the hols on how we progress.
    Thanks for the input
    Merry christmas

Hi, thanks to all who have posted on this thread for the valuable input. Im wondering if anybody has an update or more experiences to share as we also are considering building with national builders.
Also, has anyone actually tried calling the National builder guy that posted on this forum? Just curious as to whether he is part of the high turnover issue LOL
Hope to hear from some more NB home builders soon
    Thanks
