Question.
If most of us are always working hard and saving then why are so many of us not far from broke.
Many of my friends are multi millionaires and they all have one thing in common, they concentrate on making money first, saving second.
The time you spend to save a few dollars could have been better spent generating an idea and harvesting its fruits.
1. Earn an extra income stream.
2. Keep it separate from present financial situation.
3. Save all income from new income stream/s.
4. Invest all the savings.
5. Split income from investments 50/50, half is reinvested and half is your reward this you spend.
6. Don’t stress as your expenses grow each year because your income potential also grows by 50% a year.
7. Teach this to your kids, school never will.

For all your CLEANING and GARDENING work.Agree with that book recommendation.
I gave all my employees a copy for Christmas this year.
The results are noticeable so I know my team are switched on and open minded, fantastic.
1. Asking less often for more money.
2. Asking more often for more work (more work more money).
3. More general happiness (who says money Can’t make you happy, I don’t, less fights, less stress, more charity). My suggestions are to-
1. Sit down with you better half and write out a plan of action.
Failing to plan = planning to fail.
2. Don’t compare your self or situation with others, as this is quick death to thinking and reasoning processes.
3. Spend every spare minute you can educating yourself (Sell TV), education is potential power.
A book is full of ideas so if you don’t have an idea go and get a book (forget the new idea they have no ….).
4. Look at other income options; most people these days have more than one stream of income.
Get a second job (Just Over Broke), I hated it but consider the possibilities from saving and investing all of it for a year or more.
Worth considering working life of 45 years (20 to 65) multiplied by 40 hours a week = 2080 hours a year or 93,600 hours.
Now consider if some of that time was saved early and invested, with compounding in a good investment why would you need to work for 45 years, remember property doubles every 7 to 10 years.
5. Start a business, write a book, become a consultant etc yes I also hate these things in my inbox but consider that there are many many options out there for an intelligent person with an idea.
Examine your skills and resources and look for a Niche market opportunity that suits you.
6. Experiment if something does not work dump it or improve it, but stay focused else you will stay too long on a sinking ship.
More discoveries are made by explorers.
7. Ask for help or network with others.
What you are doing now on this list is a good start.
8. Reward yourself when you achieve your goals (I like chocolate ice-cream).
Set small achievable goals to maintain momentum.
9. Don’t ask for money ask for ideas.
There is more money out there looking for an investment than investments looking for money.
How much an idea is worth depends on how it is used.

For all your CLEANING and GARDENING work.I assume that you are looking to add to your business plan a few more ideas.
After reading the posts so far it strikes me that 1. you are short on equipment.
Yes the printer is going to be a major cost and the supplier will be aware of this so perhaps you can sit down with them and negotiate a win win for both parties or find another, competition is a bitch don’t be a Victim use it to your advantage.2. Shop fitout is already underway or just about to begin.
I also noticed that you mentioned that the basement needs some work, perhaps again you could negotiate with a tradie/s and help promote their business for a sizable discount or partner up with a game shop and lease the area to them and add their services to your business for mutual benefit.3. It’s one thing to ask this fantastic group what they want in your internet cafe but it’s another issue all together when you find out what the locals in your area actualy want.
By all means gather info anyway resonably possible.
Spend an entire day (your expected opening hours (remember the market changes through the day)) out in front of the cafe and ask everyone who passes what they want from you.4. Does anyone actualy want other languages and if so which ones.
Don’t forget the grey group (no offence intended (this group is my bread and butter)) but they are internet savy these days and they don’t like background noise and eye sight problems will need to be addessed and there will probably be a greater need for help.5. Don’t get stuck with in your business remember businesses change over time and need to adapt often rather quickly so eyes and minds open and follow the scout motto “BE prepared”.
6. Look for business expansion always.
Yes move upstairs when the opportunity presents it’s self or into the basement.
And yes consider providing games, competitions, books, food and drinks etc.
Don’t forget that there are many other products and services out there.
Don’t forget that there are many home businesses out there with services that need an outlet so perhaps you can partner up with them.
Adding a product or service with your business adds value to your business even if it’s not your own product or service, there is two kinds of profit here to be had.Marketing
“Because its purpose is to create a customer, the business has two basic functions: marketing and innovation. Marketing and innovation produce results; all the rest are costs.” — Peter Drucker“Exposure plus 95 cents might buy you a decent cup of coffee. The key is to ‘position’ yourself in your market as the expert, the resource, the only person your prospect would ever even THINK of doing business with, or referring to others.” — Bob Burg

For all your CLEANING and GARDENING work.I don’t think any advertisements for tradies etc will be helpful- sorry Colin (1 post?) I am not sure we want this site looking like the yellow pages.
My appologies “kay henry ” if my request looked like the yellow pages.
But considering that business people can use that method as well to find people or services when needed but investors don’t have anywhere near as many options for networking.
My request still stands. My business does cover Chippendale so “kay henry ” if you need my services please let me know.
On the other hand should anyone ask a question about cleaning or horticulture than perhaps we can network.
Seriously I would like to help my aging parents to retire with as little fuss as possible only guiding them through this process is a nightmare and advice from someone who has been down this track could be helpful.
“It is not what happens to you that determines how far you go in life; it is what you do with what happens to you.”
“Ninety percent of the success of any product or service is its promotion and marketing.” — Mark Victor HansenBy the inch it’s a cinch by the yard it’s hard.
Look before you leap.
Every investment or business I have been involved in has had the benefit of a business or investment plan.
Have I made mistakes oh hell yes.
That’s why I know that failing to plan = planning to fail.
Perhaps you could consider going in with a small operation first like a Reno.
Another way to reduce your risk would be to partner up with someone who has the knowledge or skills, only consider how to find them first.
Remember do your due diligence on all people involved.
Since you are new to the area you must remember that not only do you not know the area but also you don’t know the trads people in the area either.
That’s why I suggest doing a comfortable sized Reno first.
It would put you in touch with some good and bad trads people and guess what the good ones will be able to give you a few contacts of theirs if asked.
If you need a good plumber just ask your good carpenter etc.
Hope this helps.

For all your CLEANING and GARDENING work. How about a section for networking.
Businesses today benefit each other by networking.
Why can’t investors.
Networking could be a great start to a joint venture partnership.
Who knows a good reliable plumber?
Or what if you don’t know what to do in the garden.
Or can’t drive a nail or don’t want to break one.
There is someone out there to help, it’s just finding that person.
