Also when copying a quote from someone else’s post like this

How do I put up the top of the quotation box, ‘originally posted by FredSmith’. Is there a way to do it or does it just need typing in manually?

G7, is the ‘originally posted by blahblah’ not already on top of the quote? I always use the whole quote and then delete what I do not want, leaving the name of the original poster on top.
Is this what you mean? Perhaps there’s an easier way, but this is what I do.

This is what my son advises about your first question:

    is made by:
    [ url = “http://www.test.com” ] click here [ /url ]

    but without the spaces.
    Hope it works.

I agree with Derek about it being moved to the bottom of the page. I don’t mind having it there, but it’s kind of in the way taking up so much space at the top of the page.

Most people are not members of this RESULTS forum, and also new people come onto this site all the time. It may put the new people off if they come to a new site to find that they cannot access lots of threads at the top, and it does not feel welcoming.

Much better to move it somewhere at the bottom, in my opinion.

WHAT, GP, $5500??? She must have given herself a payrise! What happened to the “reasonably” priced $3000 weekend? What is this $5500 for, what are you supposed to get for this amount?

I vaguely remember reading something about them in the past. There’s HEAPS on the web about this scheme.

    About the PIPS scheme
From limited information available, the PIPS scheme may be an illegal investment scheme under Australian law.

PIPS is promoted over the internet and in face to face meetings arranged by local agents. The scheme is known as PIPS, PIPS Inc, People in Profit System, Private Investment Profit System, Pureinvestor and PIPS Financial Services.

Nathan, although I personally can’t help you with information, I would like to suggest to contact some online shop owners on eBay. I have been a regular visitor (buyer and seller) for years now on eBay and many people on there have their own online shop also.
My experience with these online shop owners is a very positive one. I am sure there will be some shop owners who could give you the information you need.

I haven’t looked at it, but I can imagine there is even a service available on eBay that will help you set up an online shop.
There are also several forums on eBay allowing you to ask questions.

In The Netherlands squatting is legal if the house has been vacant for a certain period of time (I believe it’s 1 year).

It is regarded as immoral to leave a house vacant for a long period when there is such a high demand for housing, esp in the cities, mainly Amsterdam.

Moss is not hard to remove, you can do it with a standard bristle scrub brush and push down (not up)the roof. You may not need a pressure cleaner. Is it green or black moss? It can be a very dangerous job as the moss can get very slippery when wet- use a safety harness!

We have a motorised pressure cleaner, can’t remember the price.
But because of water restrictions (check with your council) I think only companies are allowed to use these, not sure if you can just buy a pressure cleaner and start cleaning- perhaps it’s necessary to aks for an exemption first.

I was at Readings in Carlton last night and had a flip through a book entitled, ‘SHAM’ (Self Help and Actualization Movement. “How the Guru’s of the Self Help Movement Make us Helpless”) by Steven Salerno.

Actually, Gatsby, I wrote that title down last week on my “to read” list because someone else (can’t remember who) mentioned it also in a post (can’t remember which thread either hehe) and
I expect this to be a very interesting read!

I used to give my tenants easter eggs and x mas pressies, but now I’ve stopped that with the new tenants.

I just make sure that the property is in very good repair and well maintained- if something needs fixing it is done immediately- something any landlord should be doing anyway, but not always are so quick to do.
Oh I also ask about once every lease term (through my PM) what the tenants think needs doing to the house to make it more comfortable for them and attend to that if it seems reasonable.

Last time they said the carpet (there is timber flooring throughout the house except in one bedroom) could do with a clean because their kids had spilled something and they couldn’t get it out, and I gave them a free professional carpet clean. I also told them that they could have their own launge room rug cleaned at the same time- it didn’t cost that much more to throw that in. They loved this gesture.

I am providing a home in excellent condition; they pay me rent (so far in time).

I do like the gardening voucher idea for the tenant who loves gardening, Scott.

Try this link from 2004, investorintraining.
    http://propertyinvesting.com/forum/topic/9565.html

So John Fitzgerald is the one who established this investment group…
Also read what Neil Jenman has to say about him:
    http://www.jenman.com.au/NewsAlerts1.php?id=61

Good idea that you are researching the investment group before you get too involved with them. It’s not something anyone should just jump into before doing a lot of research.

Hehe Jason, this is an unusual question!

I have no answer, but am curious to know as well. Will you keep us updated?

I expect the answer to be that this couple of thousand credit is for you to use without attracting interest.
It seems unfair to me that you’d have to pay interest over the amount that is yours, really.

But than again, banks might think differently![buz2]

I think my regret is that I started investing late rather than early in life.

I worked full time (one job full time, plus a small part time job), made good, superfluous money, and my rent was very low.

All the money I made was completely wasted most of the time- buying crap, lots and LOTS of shoes and clothes, home decorating thingies, going on expensive holidays (Well I don’t really regret the holidays), buying a brandnew, exxy car which I didn’t need and hardly used (I used public transport or my push bike), going out all the time, not caring about how much I was spending and never saving a cent or investing it, giving money away, not even glancing at the future.

Then we emigrated on our last little bit of money we had, then had kids….no savings aside at all…
Luckily we got a bit wiser then and bought our own house, from which we started to use the equity for purpose of investments.

Things would have been so much easier now if I had just started putting a bit of money away for investments- I probably wouldn’t even have missed the money I saved.

You know the funny thing is that no one even interfered- where was the meddling family when I needed it, hehe!
Nobody even suggested that it would be a good thing to think of the future!

On the bright side, life was one big party back then with lots of fun memories! [party]

I’m asking in general: What do you think of the use of a higher blend of ethanol as a fuel extender, an idea that Howard pushes (because he lacks chemistry training)?

    Waste of time, stupid solution?
Economically intelligent?(Doesn’t it takes more energy (excessive fossil fuel input) to produce ethanol than it contains?
Politicans just using it to impress farmers?
If we HAVE to accept ethanol, isn’t ethanol produced from hemp a better choice than the ethanol from corn or sugar cane?- esp for Australia as it requires less water in production.

    Any thoughts?

Hi, Wezwaz, was that the “Breakthrough to Success Wealth & Power Weekend” you went to? Did you get free tickets for that?
SO you don’t think you got anything at all out of that course?
I was interested in going, too, but had to change my mind.

Are you saying there was dancing, hugging, chanting; the whole “We are in happy-land” ritual during the NLP as well? Bugger, I missed that![rolleyesanim]

I agree that this whole hype is just ridiculous and wasting people’s precious time.
As for the hype helping people to be committed and motivated, I say: Pffffffffff it wouldn’t work for me at all, quite the opposite.
Hugging, clapping, cheering, tskkk, should be left to football supporters!

Hehe I like your idea of introducing a hype night to get it over and done with![upsidedown]

    Thanks, Redwing.
You seem to be very organised![buz2]
Paperwork is not my favourite passtime, hehe.

But…sometimes the trouble is worth it- our accountant told us last week how much our return will be, and I look forward to receiving the cheques! [biggrin][party]

    Hi George.
I think, too, that for a 5-10% drop in rent some people will move.

But it depends- if it’s a family with, say, 2 or 3 kids, it is a BIG hassle to move house.
(Even taking a trip to the beach with babies and kids is a hassle, let alone moving house, and packing ALL of their stuff, hehe!) It costs a lot to move a family, as well.

For a single student, yes I can imagine that they won’t find it too much trouble to pack up and go- they usually have a lot of friends to help them move, and not so many large possessions like wall units.
About $20 a week can mean a lot of money for a student!

Although I was laughing about this kidney 4 sale ad, when you think about it, it is really tragic that people in third world countries ARE actually selling their organs (kidneys, eyes) to save them and their family from starvation.

And sheesh, the “secret” things happening in Chinese prisons- after execution the prisoners’ organs are being traded.
Corruption: lawyers being paid to hand out a death sentence because organs are in demand.

Sorry if I spoiled the fun on the fun forum, but I just wanted to mention that although it is funny in this case, to read an ad like that, it also reminded me of all the terrible things happening with organ trading in the world.
