Between your wife and yourself as directors, that would depend on what you both do for employment. Are they high risk industries?

Why do you feel the need to have each deal owned by a seperate entity?

If I read it correctly, you wish to use a unit trust to purchace property with unit being held in a discretionary trust. What is your end goal for the property?

Keep in mind that this type of structuring would be costly to maintain. It is not so common to do unless you want to transfer properties to a superfund.

What are your investing gaols long term?

    Hope this helps

. The down side is that you don’t get to accumulate any CG loses either which is more my track record with shares. [blush2]

I am not an expert in this area, but I know some who are that would disagree with you Elka. I think it depends if you are leaving for good or not, and where you are going.

You should consider whether the country you are going to has a double tax agreement with Aus. If you move to a country that has no CGT and no tax agreement with Aus it maybe worth while waiting untill you have moved untill you sell, as in this case there would be no CGT.

I have been in contact with a summersoft member who has been organising a meeting also, so I thaught we could combine the meetings.

Im suggesting the Breakfast Creek Hotel, which will hopefully suit most people. Im looking at August 2nd, which is a wednesday night, at 7:30pm? This should give everyone sufficient time to schedule this in.

Could I get a show of hands as to who can make it. Ill need definite numbers so that I can organise finger food. Either that or everyone can just grab some dinner there on the night.

    Let me know.

Keep a minute entry that says the IP was purchased “As trustee for the smith investment trust”

Bank account should also be “as trustee for”
    Trading done inside the trust.

    Tip

Do research into structuring, PLEASE. At least you can then make an informed decision.

To use the FHOG you must purchacse the property in you own name.
Using any other entity, you will not get the grant.
Other than this property tho, I would do some research into discretionary trusts. If you need the negative gearing affect, look into hybrid discretionary trusts.

Positive or negative geared, buy and hold, buy and sell, ect.

Investing in property has many different stratagies, and if you structure properly now it will save you restructuring (and lots of money) later.

    Hi Stephen

Usually for Asset Protection I use either a discretionary trust or a hybrid discretionary trust, depending on your investment choices.

What type of investments are you looking at?

For me this would depend on age.

As I am 30, I have no intension of puting alot into super, but as I get older I will. Money I can access now if more important for me.
As for property, each city, town, suburb etc has its own factors and as some markets rise some will fall.

It will be harder to find the “Deal of a Lifetime” but they will still be there.

The name on the title would be XXX Pty Ltd (assuming that it ia an adult shop),but a minute entry should be made in the company that it was purchased “As Trustee For the YYY Trust”.

Thanks for all your stories and kind words.

I enjoy what I do, but it was the focusing on the money that was doing me in. The more I focused on it, the further away it seemed to get.

So for me it is time to rewrite some goals. I decided to become a government accreditation for coaching and teach self defence to women and children. Not martial arts, although I have been training myself for 16 years now (my other form of asset protection).

Women and children are often overlooked in this area and I think I can do some good here.

    Thanks again guys.
Some great posts, please keep them comming.
