Hi kelvinh, I will assume your talking about service apartments. As with everything there are some good ones and bad ones. SA’s are generally not as easy to resell as houses and units. My bank manager advised me that it is difficult to establish the equity, thus difficult to borrow against. If it is + cash flow then that will count towards…[Read more]
Hi Erika, I did my degree there. Two of my lecturers were Dean W (A&P1,A&P2, Pathophysiology, Pharmacology and Sharon E ( Microbiology) I also do some representations for them O/seas.
Brent1, There’s actually 3 places in Ludmilla. 2 official (Bagot and Dickward) and 1 unofficial (Bagot). The one on Bagot rd is going through a major maintenance…[Read more]
Hi Erika, thanks for supporting what I wrote. I read one of Shaunwalkers other posts and I think he meant he was finishing payment on his IP. Where in the Uni did you work? I’ve been involved with NTU since 1990.
Em and Roo, like Erika wrote anywhere near the water is good but it will come at a price. Darwin was a little bit of a social…[Read more]
Hi Andrew, Depending on K’s and if 1 owner your probably still around the 8K mark. I’m assuming you bought it in Japan and freighted it back to OZ. If you bought in Oz then I stand corrected. Most of the importers are selling their cars for 2,3,and even 4 times the price they paid in Japan for the vehicles. Here in Japan, I recently bought and…[Read more]
I manage .17, and then the wife took over and she’s determined to beat me, thanks Billfromoz. I wonder if the type of mouse used would alter the connection time and response.

Hi Shaunwalker, Can you clear something up for me please? You have just bought a place in Larrakeyah 1 block from the uni. I thought the uni was demolished there about 5-7 Years ago. There are real estate agents offering 8-10% for management fees aswell. I’m also curious about who gave you abusive phone calls, RE’s or owners?
Hi Andrew, By my calc you paid about 8-10 K too much, but then again you still made a profit. How much do you want to spend this time? Are you based in Japan?
Wilko what model supra and how much do you want to spend on the final price of getting it to OZ. Cars can be technically scrapped in Japan imported as parts and then put together in OZ…[Read more]
I’m not sure about buying a car space in Australia but in Japan they can be a hot investment. A friend of mine leases 5 car parking spaces for 300 Aud per month each and sub leases for 500 Aud per month each. Not a bad investment return and he has people waiting for when one is vacant.

Hi Rick, I’ve actually done that here a few times. The trick is to make sure you don’t do too many or you need an agents licence. It is becoming popular with cars brought in from O/S. There are two main ways to do this (1) You find a buyer for a certain model car and get a deposit from them and use that deposit to buy the car O/S. Have the car…[Read more]
Hi all, I know it is preferably to see the property for yourself, and as someone did write “i read somewhere that if you dont have the money to jump in a car/ plane to check out places, you shouldnt be investing……” BUT some investors live O/S and it makes it quite difficult to jump in a plane and go and see, even if it is a tax deduction.…[Read more]
I agree with your thoughts on Katherine, it is a great place to live if your into outdoor activities and it’s also a water course. I missed the flood as I was O/s at the time and cyclone Rachel (97). I would also be interested in a look at the Mitchell st proposal as well. In regards to the Value inn, I believe that these service…[Read more]
I/O loans are generally lower repayments over the same period as P/I and can leave you extra cash for other properties, but you still owe the same amount you borrowed. P/I loans pay some off the principle and this generally gives you faster equity than a I/O of the same value at the same interest if both are achieving the same CG. This is just…[Read more]
As with most places there are good areas and bad areas around Darwin to invest in. The prices have been jacked up a little lately due to the hype about the line, port and gas projects. The real estate agents have jumped on this bandwagon and this has helped inflated the prices a little further.
The vacant land between Casuarina hospital and…[Read more]
I do both. I use an agent for units and do it myself on the houses. No major problems either way and only the occassional hiccups both ways. I think it’s more of a case of how much you want to control the situation and if you want to put in the extra effort to receive larger rewards
Us Aussies keep on popping up everywhere here in Japan. Hungry I’ve bought properties in Oz whilst here in Japan, but still go back to do my own final inspection before signing on the dotted line. I’m trying to get another now but getting a few headaches from the mobile banker. Huey if your daughter drops me her CV I will see what I can do from…[Read more]
