  • brent replied to the topic Government’s plan: bank co-own homes in the forum The Treasure Chest 21 years, 6 months ago

    Hey Charlie,

Great pick-up and some really interesting information there.

Personally, I don’t think it will go ahead. There is too much potential for the system to be exploited by sharks out there. That means more risk for the bank and, as we can historically see from banks, more risk means more cost.

The benefits for the bank are potential…[Read more]

    Hi Richmond,

A couple of things you said in your post were a bit worrying. If I were you, I’d look at how I could invest in a way which is most likely to guarantee my investment returns.

    Hi Daniel,

I think you need to have a look at why you’re investing in property in the first place.

You mention that investing in property is placing financial strain on you. Is this what you intended when you were first investing in property? I get the feeling you invested in property because you wanted to end up in a better financial…[Read more]

I think it’s fair to say about accountants, just as any professional group, that if you want to pay peanuts, you’ll end up with monkeys.

Perhaps ‘value’ is a better question to ask, and not ‘cost’.

Why not let them take on bank finance for as much as they can, and you wrap them a second mortgage for the remainder?

Benjamin Partners do our rental management in Ballarat. Their number is (03) 5331 1500. Bev is probably the best person to speak to.

    Hi Leigh,

You’re not talking about the fish and chip DVD, are you?

Deposit bonds are very popular these days for people wanting to get 100% finance on off-the-plan properties.

Usually they cost about 1% of the purchase price, and are like insurance which you put up to say “Yes, I will be able to afford the deposit when the time comes”.
