So just how easy and how long will it take to open a us bank account? Reason I ask is because I will be in San Fran for 4 days in late August. Beside your passport are there any other documents required?
I tried opening an account from HSBC here in Vic, however they require $200 in fees and have a existing account with them for at least 3 months.
Might as well open one while I m there.
I planning to open a citibank account since they have branches here in Victoria. Any recommendations on which bank?

Will you be able to forward the contact details of the accountant? Are friend of my is looking for information in LLC/asset protection and borrowing if they do decide to buy a property in the states.

If not borrowing at all in Australia (Cash deposit) then the general idea was Pty/Ltd Company and family trust (depending on income souces 1 or 2 wages kids ect) or if using equity from Oz property then LLC was the preferred set up. All set up and going costs were explained and iformation to be mailed to us. So far everyone has contacted us when they said they would and things are progressing fine.
