Actually Kay I am trying to get the right information for my situation, so I guess giving details helps to get the right advice. As far as saving for a deposit, I am quite aware that a deposit is what I need so your advice is not of much help also if I was to just to get rid of my bf (who I love very much) wouldn’t that be running away from a difficult situation and if I did that I would never succeed at what I want to do.

    Please only helpful advice[:D]

    Hehe………funny!
Here’s another one for you all.[:D]

    Cannibals [8]

Three ecologists are exploring deep in the jungle searching for new plant life when they are captured by a tribe of cannibals. They are taken back to the village to be tried by the chief. The chief stares at the white men and is about to give the usual “let’s boil them alive” orders, when he gets an idea.

“I shall let each of you go,” he says, “if you can go out into the jungle and within one hour, come back with 10 identical pieces of fruit.” The men are overjoyed when they hear this so off they run into the jungle to gather fruit.

Half an hour later, one of them comes back with 10 peaches and proudly brings them to the chief. The chief looks at the fruit and tells him that he will let him go if he can shove all 10 pieces of fruit up his bum without changing his facial expression.

He notices all the serious faces of the tribesmen so he starts to shove one up there, but with the peach halfway in he lets out an agonizing shriek of pain. The chief promptly gives the order to kill him.

Ten minutes later the second guy comes back and sees his friend lying dead in the dirt. The tribesmen grab him and tell him to open his hands for the chief. In his hands he holds 10 identical berries.

When the chief gives the same orders he is visibly relieved and quickly begins to shove the fruit up his rear end. 1…2…3…4…5…6…7…8…9….. …then suddenly the guy busts out laughing! Not amused, the chief once again gives the order to kill the guy.

Now the two dead guys are up in heaven discussing what had just happened. “You only had one more berry to shove up your ass, and you were home free! Why did you start laughing?”

“I couldn’t help it. I lost it when I saw Fred coming down the path with 10 pineapples!”

PS I suppose stick fruit up ya bum would be like stuffin a chicken for cannibals?

    Good idea Brent!

A scheduled meeting is agreat great idea that way participating chatters can prepare relevant questions and topics to discuss. Would there perhaps be guest speakers or someone in particular that we can ask our questions or would it just be who ever jumps on line?

Thanks everyone for your advice and replys so far….[^]

Wrappack – Yes, I do cook dinner …..every night but I don’t think I would eat his cooking. He’s only cooked for me once and that was enough for me [8] and he knows that!!! Hehe. Plus I used to be a chef…..
I was actually wondering out about the whole defacto thing and wasn’t sure as to when we would be classified as being in a defacto relationship…..thanks for the warning, is there still a risk if my name is on absolutely everything?
As for him getting any job he was actually looking in to getting a job in a timber mill which is the one job he said he’d never do again…. so things are looking hopeful. I have to jump to his defence tho, it is hard getting a job where we live article in the paper today about it.

    Sis,
Thanks for your motivational story, I too have had a bit of a ruff trot in the past so know the value of working for what you want and also hangin in there when times are low. [:D]
Don’t worry no-one is holding me back, I will just be leavin people behind!

    Judi,
Yes I am supporting my boyfriend but only in the sense that I am paying for his half of everything…. fixed expenses such as rent I would have to pay regardless so as far as that goes he helps out as much as he can with food and stuff with what he gets from the government.
And don’t worry I am trying to change the situation….he slept on the couch the other night…[}:)] now he is extra pro-active when it comes to looking for jobs! (The couch must be REAL uncomfortable!![:D])

    Hi everyone,

I was wondering what are the best books for me to read? I have been avoiding American published one’s as they are based on American real estate. What other books are there that will help me? (Besides 0-130 by our very own Steve McKnight, already went out and got myself that one….my first step to investing!)
Advice of what has been good for others would be very helpful.

    Skippygirl,

I have done myself a detailed budget and am trying to stick to it, so I have in some way started to create some sort of money habit but unfortunately with training for my new job which involves travelling 5 hours from where I live and like I said supporting the boyfriend and myself, my pay tends to dwindle down to a few dollars each fortnight reagrdless of my budget. It is only early days for my budget, because I have just started and I will check out that book you advised….thanks.[:D]

    Black Jack,
I have approached my parents as they are the only one’s I know that are financial enough to help out. Unfortunately after having multiple conversations with my Mum about property investing she decided that her and my father would concentrate on paying of their own home then invest themselves…. so that kind of leaves me out of the loop! [8)]
I am flying solo with this and don’t really want to get my bf involved as we have only been together approx 10 mths and I hate the thought of a messy problem with my IP’s if we splitsky and he wants his share…… not worth it.
From here I don’t know where to go as I know no-one who would be good for an investment partner hence my first problem of having little to deposit.[?]

You can download a firewall, the best firewall there is around, for free (if you want the cheapest version) , it is called ZoneAlarm.

Do a Google search for ZoneAlarm and you will be led to the website.

    Hi,
Zone Alarm is great but……. my boyfriend has it on his computer and it won’t even let network computers access without a lot of fidling…..very funny actually! Well it was watching my bf try to figure it out![:D] He gets quite flustered!

I believe that I have to live in it for 1 year regardless if I want to move out because I am using my first home buyers grant for part of the deposit, that is a term of the grant. Is there a specified amount of time you need to live in a residence before its classified as PPOR?
I am definitely confused about CGT, I thought after a year it was CGT free anyway?

I am a PM at the moment but unfortunately have only just started and am a bit vague as to what I am doing but I know that all your rights and everything you will need to know is in the ‘Residential Tennancies Act’ and as far as the keys are concerned I think that the PM you dealt with should have been shot!
    Hope that helps anyway,

but it’s a bit harsh to describe the greater population as lemmings I would have thought.

    cheers
    r

Meant no offence r, just refering how I feel about work. I think it would be great if no-one had to work. (that’s in Bec’s fantasy land).
    [8)]Bec

P.S. Judi, a lemming is from an old computer game. They were cute little dudes that walk around and you control them to complete levels…..strategy game….I thought they were cute![:D]

Is it the best idea for me to move out? What is the next step do I move into the next one too and so on until I can build up enough equity to buy “my home” or is there an easier way to do this? I am not sure where to go after that?………..Maybe I should start reading 0-130/ (which I have but haven’t got around to starting yet)[?]
