    Thanks Steph/Aaron,

Obsessive/compulsive about doing the reno’s myself. Two years without a bathroom door sort of ties you to a place…

I’m not fussed about finishing the place, particularly since I intend to return.

What I’d really like to do is vacate for the six months, hike up the loan by about $30,000 for the renovation that I never could afford and not have to be there for the showers at the neighbours and kitchen consisting of microwave and kettle only.

If this can all be done as an investment property rather than PPOR I’m hoping that IP conditions apply as if it was rented or being conditioned for the same.

    Pinky,

If those goals of yours are reached you’re going to NEED to retire alot earlier than 50!!!

    My goal… [:O] ??

For the moment it’s to get a goal! [:I]

I don’t know about this ‘wait and see what she looks like’ plan…

When my son was born we hadn’t decided on a name (okay.. we were still arguing about it![:I]) “The Baby” remained just that for about six weeks!!! He then became Benjamin (because we faced a fine if he wasn’t named soon) but that didn’t suit him. He finally became Michael.[^]

At the age of thirteen he has announced that he wants to be called Max.

I think the indecision must be in the genes.[;)]

To all of the above… thank you.

Although I despise painting, doing it myself is the financially sensible thing to do.

    Two minor details, however:

    1. I live in Tasmania.
    2. I work on contract and am unable to take the time.

As new tenants have agreed to move in unaware that painting was my intention, I think I’ll delay the makeover until I can get up there myself (post wet season hopefully[^]). I understand the flight and a couple of nights accommodation is tax deductible. I’ll look into it (or make a later post!).

Thanks again for advice so far.
