    Firstly

    Hi Sairah
There seem to be more of us newbies than you can poke a stick at, so don’t worry. Where did you get the idea that you’re an oldy (or was that tongue-in-cheek & I’m being dopey), you’re only as old as you feel!!! (I’m usually about 140 on Sunday mornings).
Thinking positive seems to be a large part of this setup.

    Secondly

    Hey Matt
It would seem that we’re in a similar boat. I have just posted a new topic to the forum/website technicalities board suggesting a Newbies page, where all the basics are laid out (All those “stupid” questions (As regarded by the more experienced)).
It sounds like you’re on the right track.

Another rule to add to your list could be something along the lines of “Always try to think outside the box”.
    Regards
    Patrick

    Hi Guys
I understand the need to restrict entry to this kind of even. As mentioned, I would probably ask all sorts of “dopey” questions. I have done quite a bit of research on wraps (Ithink!), but it would be great to have a bit of a chat with people who have taken the leap. Perhaps there would be an opportunity for a “Newbie’s” meeting somewhere on the eastern side of the city (I hope there are a few like minded types in Gippsland).
    Cheers

    Hi
There are a few web sites like realestate.com.au (I think that’s the address). If you fish around through the forums, you’ll find lots of handy stuff.
Just remember that there is no such thing as too much research!!

    Hi
This is pretty much the same theory as my wife & I have come to. We already have quite a bit of equity in our own house – so if I can dig up a golden opportuity, we’ll hopefully have the loot to finance the initial costs.
In the meantime, its full steam ahead with gaining equity in our place.
Not all positively geared properties have vanished. I had found a couple in the last week or so (they were out of my bravery comfort zone for a first IP purchase). Having done more research and got the balls to do it – they were both sold!!
    The hunt begins again!
Be patient and do lots & lots of research.

I’m new to this whole thing, but so far the comments that have made most sense are the ones along the line of “patientce” & “wait for the prices to begin to rise”. While patience isn’t one of my strong points – I’d be willing to hang on, watch & wait before making a relatively large commitment.
I just thought I’d add this for the benefit of fellow “Newbies”
