sounds like you are on the ball. all yr questions comments, worries etc are completeley valid.
depending whpo you talk to
– property on the way out
– sharemarket volatile
etc etc
i think the main thing for you is not to go backwards over the next 12 mos
dont worry too much about interest because with only a small amount amount invested the total interest after tax will be minimal.
an important thing is that wherever you park yr money make sure its liquid enuf to use at short notice incase an opportuniy arises. eg if you keep yr money in some fixed deposit accts and you decide to withdraw b4 maturity you may cop fine etc etc.
i reckon a good savings plan with regular contributions is the wat to go.
you could keep 5 k in say ing and the other 5k
in some kind off balanced fund (bt/colonial etc). atleast in this way you have spread to risk across cash and shares/property etc depending on the fund you choose. funds are good savings plans as you can add to them each month also…
good luck for saturday richmond…..you sound like a good bloke with a good sense of humour which i guess will come n handy over the next 50 years….
remember on the day its ok to feel stressed. lots of pressure to sit back and enjoy it but if your human you will have heaps of stuff going through yr mind. you will probably run the whole gammit of emotions.
the best way to deal with it is to delegate evrything. do you have a wedding planner??? if not make sure your parents know its your day not theres so they need to chip in with some help (eventhough they are paying)
in all seriousness though, have a great one. i reckon the best marriages are based around a perspective that says ‘all this wierd stuff is going on around me, good times, bad times etc and isnt incredible that i have someone i love to share the journey with…..life would be less without them.
i have an idea – to avoid any doubt as to the skill of moderators i think the owners of this site should pay for an all expense 6 week ‘moderator’ education programme/diploma, prefereably held at oxford, cambridge or an american ivy league university……

Children’s academic success may be influenced more by their parents’ socio-economic status than whether they go to a private or public school.
A study by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) found little difference between the reading and mathematics abilities of year nine students in private and public schools.
ACER Research Director John Ainley said students with who lived in wealthier suburbs, had parents from high socio-economic backgrounds and went to well resourced public or private schools tended to be more academically successful.
“The overwhelming finding is that both the individual social background of the students is important, and so is the composition of the school they attend,” Dr Ainley told ABC radio.
“And one would infer from this that this reflects both access to resources and stimulation and expectation that flows through from common group of students with common goals.”
Dr Ainley said students tended to be more academically successful if they felt a sense of wellbeing at school and believed their school stimulated and encouraged them.

He said stimulating learning environments could exist in public as well as private schools.
“There are very good schools in both sectors,” he said.

they are hard to find. and yes i too am waiting for the market to drop so i can get amongst it.
im in no rush though. try using this time to learn as much as you can, save for deposits and then you will be ready to pounce when the opportunity arises.
having said that im sure there are some good deals to be done right now, just not so many.
if you cant find anything in tassie then chances are you wont on the mainland.
why not try new zealand where i believe there are still opportunities….
i think that we shouldnt really judge people by how they dress.
bronny – the bloke you spoke to was probably just incompetent. ive met heaps of ‘suits’ who are incompetent also.
its funny though because where i live there are heaps of hippy looking dudes who look like bums but carry gold cards in there wallets. (im one of them)
i once went into a realestate agent asking about a specific property and she looked me up and down and asked me if i realised how expensive this property and suburb was…….
i was wearing tracky dacks and a t-shirt as i had just finished doing some cleaning around the house.
i left that agent, went to the one next door and asked them if they could get a hold of the same house and put in an offer via the other agent……
imagine the banker who turned down richard branson for a business loan because he looked like a hippy dropout….
I think i saw mini’s smiling face on rove last night
great job!!!
mini – i envy you. my father is a singer also (on tv a few times) and would love the adrenalin rush of playing to a big audience. 5 minutes of fame would do me!!!!
the closest i have come is to play infront of 10-15 people at a cafe.
congrats
ps – would like to see alex lloyd but havent had the chance – maybe next time
