You pay tax there and you pay tax here with a foreign credit. This is if you do it as an individual. If you use a company well there are many variations to approaches there depending on what you want to achieve. But simply it is the same as above but with the protection of a corporate structure.

The Key for me is the fact that there is no right or worng way to do proprety. There are two factors that decide for me. What I am comfortable with and what the market is allowing me to do.

Long and short of it is get a discount on purchae price. Estimate repair costs and seek that as a discount on original contract price. The negotiation is not over until the day of settlement.

Hear what you are saying Dave but for me the financial benefits of renting and investing would make sense. Unfortunately the decision to sell and rent is one I have been vetoed on. Don’t discount the wrapping thing on the coast. I was contacted about 5 months ago to do a wrap in GC for a house around the $250K mark. Didn’t come off but there were people interested. Stick an ad in the local rag and see what turns up……cheap market survey to see if there is demand.
