Racism based on fear? … mm, that is a way of seeing it, I think about racism more like stereotyping, usualy of derogatory characteristics and making them extensive to a group that is easily identifiable by exterior racial markers, and using such stereotyping to denigrate said group.
Yet the fact above may lead us to err on the said of caution. One funny example is the way the police has been banned from describing a suspect, and how it is no longer possible to describe racial features. Fancy that. -“The police saw the suspect who is an err em he/she and may be tanned with stylish hear, of nice appearance has two legs and is a human.”
In my days of working in compliance in the welfare industry I have seen a disproportionate number of cases of fraud committed by a narrow group who considers robbing a westerner or his government a reason to be proud of. As much as this can be easily stamped out by using simple logic, and we where able to do this in collaboration with the ATO in the taxi industry very successfully, it is no longer allowed and we lose millions just so that we are not seen as being racists.
So hei, Aussie are not racist, yet we house a big array of foreign groups, some who are unfortunatley very racist against white westerners and their families and proud of it.
May God prosper you always.[biggrin]
Can we make money without personal growth?
The short answer is no.We can only prosper as far as we have grown as a person, no set of instructions or perfect recipy will add a dollar to our bank acount unless we are ready for it.
Here are some good points about Prosperity by Randy Gage:
Believe in your good before you see it.
Stop taking financial advice from broke people.
Vividly visualize the image what you desire in your mind.
Your wealth will grow only as fast as you do.
Seek mentors who have done what you desire to do.
Seek mentors who have become what you desire to be.
Plant seeds for your future prosperity.
If you have old debts you never paid back – pay them forward.
Give that extra five percent.
Never affirm lack.
May God prosper you always.[biggrin]
MarcAgreed, everyone is racist in a way or another. In Sydney there are a lot of ethnic clubs. The Croatian Club, the Serbian club, the Uruguayan Club, The Apia Club, the Polish, Hubertus you name it, we got it.
Are this an expression of racism?Sorry for being so repetitive but depends what you mean by racism. Do Polish people go to that club because they think it is better than the Serbian one? Of course! Do they think they are better than? Absolutely! Does that make them racist? Well I don’t think so, but that is my opinion.
And this will inevitably bring us to a practical application of racism yes or no.
In Australia we went from a policy of integration to a policy of multiculturalism.
Today talking about integration is talking red neck bigot racist. Why?Multiculturalism has his good side, mainly recognition that we are different and not all the same, recognition of the values of each group, but has become a tool for dis-integration, a tool that brings the majority into disrepute if they even consider to demand some sort of acceptance of mainstream expectations to adhere to some minimal social / cultural rules.
If you want examples you only have to look at the Auburn Council and it’s anti-Christmas rules. Want another example? Some corporations go to great length to abolish any religious hint from staff, banning even the wearing of a crucifix around your neck … yet … Muslim women are allowed to work in their cultural attire regardless of the fact that it is blatant religious/cultural propaganda, subsidised by foreign countries and that imply to other women “you are a whore if you don’t ware a scarf like I do.”
So to suggest that Australians are a racist country is ludicrous. We are not only not racist we are borderline with fools.
May God prosper you always.[biggrin]
MarcOriginally posted by aussierogue:marc 1 – is there any significance that you only refer to koreans….what about other nationalities??? do they have the same problems as koreans or do the japanese and koreans have a unique relationship???
btw i thought koreans and japanese were of the same race. so this could be more of a cultural/historical issue rathan than rascist one!
As usual Aussie is right on the money. Yes Japan and Korea have a feud that goes back a long time. Yet Japanese consider their culture superior to other asians and will go to extreems to preserv it. Are Korean and Japanese the same race? Hum, to us westernes may be, but if I that am not Japanese can pick a Korean from a Japanese from his looks, just like I can pick a Vietnamese from a Chineese, how much more them?
Are Japanese racist? it depends on the definition but in broad terms one can say that Japan has a racist culture and racist legislation, and they ae not alone. Zimbawe is a racist country, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland to name a few are racist countries. Australia in comparison is the most tolerant and tame country on the face of the planet. Australia and Australians are not racist by a country mile, what am I saying… a nautical mile.
May God prosper you always.[biggrin]
MarcSo Baloo, you have a friend in Japan. Good for you. I have two half sisters a step mother and an array of relatives.
How many Koreans do you know persoanlly who live in Japan and had their application rejected after living in Japan 50 years? How many children born in Japan from Korean parents do you know personaly, that had their application rejected?
I hope your give more thought to your RE deals then the thought you seem to give to your post.
As means of entretainment read the post below. I cannot guarantee it’s accuracy but it does give you an inside in the way Japanese think and act.

MarcHi Aussie, the paragraph about human rights being a sign of weakness does not refer to Japan but good old Australia where some meedle eastern people will consider concession, politness, obeying road rules, trust or welfare payments to name a few, a sign of weakness to be taken advantage off.

MarcOriginally posted by aussierogue:it is irrelevant which country is MORE racist than others. any racism is bad. The idea that you can be MORE or LESS racist is stupid. any racism is bad and the kkk debacle should be a wake up call for all Australians that there is underlying racism in our country. we should be worried as should other countries when this type of thing happens rather than saying ‘we aren’t the worst!!!’
Strange idea. Crime is bad for example … and I rather live where there is little crime then where there is a lot.
The ICERD (International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination) defines racism as follows:
“Any distinction, exclusion, restriction, or preference based on race, colour, descent, or national or ethnic origin which has the purpose or effect of nullifying or impairing the recognition, enjoyment, or exercise, on equal footing, of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the political, economic, social, cultural, or any other field of public life.â€If the above is a valid definition, we don’t have racism in Australia. In fact if anything we have reverse racism in our legislation. There are councils who forbid displaying Christmas decorations or anything to do with Christmas to avoid “offending” a group of Muslims. Some welfare benefits are exclusive to indigenous people, and some particular jobs are only available to that group. I cannot apply.
The following definition seems to be a more practical one and may encompass the personal dislike some have towards a group of people defined by their genetic make up:
“Racism is prejudice or discrimination based on the belief that race is the primary factor determining human traits and abilities. Racism includes the belief that genetic or inherited differences produce the inherent superiority or inferiority of one race over another. In the name of protecting their race from “contamination,” some racists justify the domination and destruction of races they consider to be either superior or inferior. Institutional racism is racial prejudice supported by institutional power and authority used to the advantage of one race over others.”
Yet racism is a term that is no longer as valid as it was 50 or more years ago. The divisions that are alive today are due to cultural differences, class differences religious differences, place of birth or citizenship differences.
And it is here that we hit the wall. The anti-racism say “we are all equal”, yet when we have and should always have the same rights, we are by no means equal. We are substantially different all of us, I am different from you, that is for sure.
It is this inability to recognise our differences and live with them that produces conflict and by negating our more than obvious differences we will never achieve harmony.
As a last thought and just to prove how different we all really are, all this talk about equality and rights that we consider advanced and unifying, is seen by other cultures as a sign of weakness and a signal that it is time to move the demands once more, a bit further.
In Japan to acquire citizenship you must live in Japan for 3 generations. Then pass a detailed scrutiny and a test to see if you have really become a Japanese. An inspector will come to your house and see what kind of foods you cook, what furniture you use, what cloths. Any smell of foreign food or customs will mean rejection to your application.
Is that racist?
Depends how you look at it. Certainly fulfills a purpose to preserve Japan as Japanese. Wrong?
Perhaps for the applicants ….May God prosper you always.[biggrin]
MarcAgreed. And the best part is that when you sell, the buyer always thinks he can do better than you and pay top dollars even if the business is at it’s peak [biggrin]

…I have researched many Network Marketing companies and it comes down to this. With most of them for you to make money, you have to do one of two things. You have to either get people to buy products off you or you have to get others to get others to buy products from them and you get commissions….I can’t see myself convincing people why they need to buy a certain shampoo, soap or viatmin via the internet or a 1300 number and why it’s better then the local Safeway or Coles…hhhmmm…Kind Regards,
George.George George George, it is called marketing!!! ….meaning…. you must find customers.
And what you sell is always better than the competitors[biggrin]If you don’t like the concept of selling, teaching, running seminars, talking to groups or large gatherings, run boot camps, interviews, phone calls, making money …forget NM… such is the lifeblood of this method of marketing.
I suggest to watch Tuesdays “backyard inventors”(not sure of the channel) and Wednesdays on ABC “the inventors”. Very inspiring, if you put your mind to it you will come up with something new, get a patent and find a manufacturer, there are millions waiting for the right idea and the following action behind it.
Remember that wealth is infinite only limited by what you claim as yours.[cap]

Any clues out there?

Geo.There is a new clue Geo,
you must ask a financial advisor.
Drop the creativity and join the herd.May God prosper you always.[biggrin]
MarcHa ha, I see that Amway haters have organised themselves.
Not my thing I am not in Amway either.
Nor will I tell others to join my (conceded very successful ) venture.
This is not the appropriate site to do so.
I am here to learn about RE investing, that is where I place the money I make with NM.My suggestions are to people who take advice from unqualified sources, and who still think NM is selling laundry powder door to door, is a pyramid scheme or other misconceptions. There are thousands of people who make a decent living from NM in Sydney alone, a few hundred that make a very good living and some who make it big. The difference between all this people and the rest is that they checked the reality of NM rather than asking their next door neighbour’s cousin.
It is the same with RE, shares, business, industry, inventions, you name it.
Research is the key, you don’t dispute this basic truth when it comes to RE, the topic you all are interested in. Well allow me to react against bias and misconception when it comes to what I know better than most because I make a living from it.May God prosper you always.[biggrin]
MarcHow credible is the opinion of a tenant who has never owned a property, talking about Real Estate Investment and how to make money with it?
Why should anyone opinion about Network Marketing be any more credible if their knowledge comes from a third cousin or a month in Amway or Omegatrend before dropping out disillusioned because the millions did not roll in just then?
Ok so let’s suppose you theoretically find an Omegatrend member and are introduced for a special deal, examine the ramifications and consequences of you’re doing so, what it means to you in your circumstances. Are you better or worse off? Are you comfortable with your decision .This is what should determine your action on this suggestion, or any others made throughout the whole topic, together with seeking professional advice if it is felt to be needed or warranted .What on earth does this mean?
Oh be careful, the evil Omega people may trick you, “seek professional advice”
I would like to know if you have even bothered checking for the details of this offer from Omegatrend. (not my company dont ask)Your post is advertising plane and simple, shake people’s confidence so someone may fall in your net.
How can anyone ask for advice from a financial adviser unless he wants to become a financial advisor himself is beyond me.I say, want to be a RE investor? Ask the people who make REAL MONEY in Re investing, seek a millionaire for good advice.
Want to make money in Network Marketing? Find someone who makes 50,000 a week in Network Marketing not someone who makes 50,000 a year by telling others to do what he does not do himself.
A very simple strategy if you ask me.
May God prosper you always.[biggrin]

Why were you careless?
There is no such thing as a mistake, we all do what we do with a purpose, conciously knowing or not.

MarcNewgen,
I will tell you something tha may shock you, but that perhaps will help you more than a statement of sympathy. What you did was intentional.
You lost money in order to sabotage your attempts to achieve. And you will do it again and again, and not only with money, with relationships too. This happened not at a concious level but a subconcious level.
In your subconcious there is a program that is hindering your progress and will do so unless you change it.You subconcious mind was programmed by teachers, parents, peers with the principle that “rich is evil and poor is virtuous”. It is wrong to have lots of money and if you keep on going in the direction you are trying to go, you will be just as bad as all those evil rich people out there who are dishonest exploiters and taking away from the poor and unfortunate honest decent people who have no money.
All your actions will be hindered by this ideas that it is wrong to have more money than your environemt dictates to be the norm.
Conceded you are not aware of this, at a concious level.
But you are now because I told you.
You have no more excuse, you must act now to change your limiting beliefs.Suggested readings:

Marc“Money is the root of all evil” (‘ Love of’, is always conveniently left out).
“It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of the needle than for a rich man to go to heaven”
(camel is mistranslating for rope)“You are lacking in one thing. Go, sell what you have, and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.” At that statement his face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions.
The above scripture passages must be the most misused misinterpreted and also most quoted passages in the whole bible… to a point that even people who are openly agnostic or atheist, will use them and quote them.
Why?
Because they tuch a point that for generations has been a controversial subject. Wealth.
In the old testament days, no-one had a conflict with wealth. Prosperity was universally accepted as originated in God and given by God as a blessing. Poverty was understood as a curse and a punishment and this was so for millennia.
The New Testament develops in a narrow historical context of a few decades. Israel is under an occupying force, the Roman empire. A pagan polytheist force that sacrifices to different pagan idols. Never in his history was Israel in a worst position.
The teachings of Jesus regarding wealth, money and “rich people” must be understood in such context.
A “rich” person in Jesus days refers in the first place to an Israelite. There where two ways for an Israelite to remain rich or become so, in an occupied city. One way was to become a traitor to his own and align with the Romans, become a person in power collaborationist and exploiter of his co-nationals. Another was to collect taxes from…again his fellow citizen to give to Rome, pocketing all the excess he could in the process.
The “Love of money” quote is from Paul and from a few decades later and when it has a more universal application it is based in the same context and background. The rich and abusive people Paul and Jesus talk about, are not the Salomon and the David’s from the old testament but a new generation of people who have betrayed all that was sacred to the Israelites for an addiction to exploitation and abuse.
Does the scripture teach that we must sell all and give to the poor?
Not according to the parable form the Master himself:For the kingdom of heaven is as a man traveling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. But he that had received one went and dug in the earth, and hid his lord’s money. After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: and I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundantly: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 25:14Â30).
Our mandate is to excel, each according to his/her ability. How can we reconcile this with the instructions given to the young ruler, go and sell all etc?
The instructions were given to a person in power who came to ask a question: How can I go to heaven? Jesus gave an answer tailored to this persons individual needs.
What I really hate a lot is the assumptions made as to what the person did afterwards.
There are no reference in the bible to this, only that he was sad.Now this is how I picture the outcome:
He went away sad because he had many possessions…product of a long time of abuse of authority and dispossession of the weak. So when he arrived home he conference with his father and convened to return all the product of his pillaging to their rightful owners, and started a completely new life in the light of the scriptures. In our days we must excel and use our talents to the limit of our ability. It is for those ability that we will be called into account.
Unfortunately this days there is a lot of preaching what I call “poverty gospel”, an inclination from the pulpit to reach out and generate sympathy from the underachievers and give a justification for their failure.“It is wrong to strive, It is not right to long for achievement because money is the root of all evil. Rich people go to hell whilst poor are spiritual since they leave the ways of this world and follow Christ. “
Wrong and misleading, an argument full of holes that keeps more people in poverty then wars and abusive governments.
Yet picture this. You are in front of a crowd that statistic tell 95 % of them have too much week for the money they earn.
What will go down better:
a) It is someone else’s fault, the greedy rich, the corrupt government, your parents, your children.
b) It is all the result of what YOU think, you say, you do.May God prosper you always.[biggrin]
MarcHi Jennifer, I hope you crunched the numbers correctly and get a good deal.
On an different topic, you say that “…The agent says he thinks (in other words won’t tell me exactly) she needs $430K…”

Hi Marc1, I will be talking about network marketing but using a different slant on the subject. Also network marketing has been covered before in the forum and may be found by searching.
Talking about network marketing … well … I take then that you are succesfuly building a network marketing business, congratulations, which company are you with?
I did search the BB for references to network marketing only to find the usual biased and ill informed opinions from people who have no personal experience or who’s experience refers to a remote encounter with a second cousin who happened to know someone who did Amway for 2 weeks and quit, or that heard about some Pyramid scheme on the news, and as you know there is no difference between pyramid schmes and NM and therefore … [baaa]
Geo you posed the question, many expressed diffeent possibilities in a well intentioned manner I am sure.
Yet … Ideas are cheap, action is what counts, and I mean action from you of course [biggrin].As for advice, try to get ideas from whoever volonteers them but advice only from those who are making money from what they promote.
After all can you imagine me giving advice on shares? I don’t own shares, use to own a few thousands that were given to me and I sold them when I wanted to change cars with total disregard to the market.
However … I have a friend who is very successful in share trading and he blabs to me a lot abou them and I do remember some of what he said… so … I am organising a talk on share markets and share trading with myself as the main speaker,… come along … NOT! [cigar]

Regards,
Geo.Hi Geo, you say you want to hear creative ways to generate money.
I can tell you what is not creative, and that is to exchange hours for dollars. That is clearly not creative at all, it is called a job, and there are a lot better jobs out there than refilling vending machines or washing other peoples cloths.
So you must decide first if you want a lineal income or a residual income.
Lineal income, I suggest the Sydney Morning Herald on Saturdays, many jobs there each according to his ability.
Residual income…Now we are talking.
Write a book.
Invent something that adds value to people’s life.
Write a song or music.
Write some special software.
If you don’t have any talents in the above category, you can build a residual income by going into network marketing. You will need to sort out the best industry, company and team leader from the rest, but I can tell you that fortunes are being made every day in the network marketing industry whilst the herd slaps each other on the back, laughing about stories of Pyramid schemes and Amway reps.
May God prosper you always.[biggrin]
MarcYack, a sensible post.
When I don’t want to take away from the value of this website, every human activity has a reason to be. A website like this has a purpose in the owner’s overall economic activities and is expected to give some form of return even if only moral support it still fulfills a purpose.
As such then, all our small contribution also make the size of this website and hopefully give value to the visitor who then perhaps will be interested in books seminars etc.
If you post a response to someone question you also do it in your own time, generously, hoping it will be of some help to the one posing the question. So all in all “we” are somehow co-authors each one in his own small way in this multifaceted melange that is a bulletin board.
So, even when I’m sure Steve appreciates an expression of gratitude, the best way to express this gratitude is to post something of interest or answer a question
That will contribute to the value of the place.Personally I find the threads in “Opinionated” and other threads that go on a tangent and make some people edgy and uneasy the one with the most value.
When you read something that makes you uncomfortable, rather then feel defensive and put the barriers up, one should ask himself a question. WHY am I feeling so upset? The answer usually is in our comfort zone being challenged, and it is precisely this pushing us out of our comfort zone that makes the difference between success and failure.
When I read post of people who challenge popular wisdom or what is locally accepted as the truth, I am glad because it makes me rethink the values and principles I consider irrefutable. After all not long ago it was impossible to make a loss in RE, and before 1987 shares where much better than RE and before that the earth was flat …
What will we be laughing about in one year time? 5?10?Keep up the good work Steve and remember that you get paid according to the value you add to to other people’s life. I’m sure you are familiar with this principle.
God bless
MarcMay God prosper you always.[biggrin]
