We have a block that has an easement running across, we have subivided it into 3 lots with the easement running parallel to one of the boundries.

As the block is on the smaller side we have chosen a house design that doesnt have one of those inbuilt garages so we can fit in another room.

My question is, can you build a ‘semi permanent’ carport over the top of an easement? Maybe something with no slab and just a bit of river sand or something like that so its easy to dig up need be down the track or is council pretty stringent with this sort of stuff?

Another question, is a 3rd bedroom worth the headache of trying to fight council to get a carport permit over an easement?

Plan without garage to fit in another bedroom

Coucil are fee collectors. Chances are you will have little problem getting a permit for building someting simle like a carprt over the easment. It should take about 12 weeks and a couple of thousand dollars. Oh I would still do it in concrete
