Ok I have narrowed it down to Maitland, Rockhampton or Townsville. I plan on buying some land and building a house and can't separate the three. All have connections with the mining industry. Can anyone share your thoughts on these towns. All seem like sound investments.
I like Rockhampton because of its proximity to Gladstone, high occupancy rate and rental return is better. Townsville has a mining influence but also a heavy defence force presence. Maitland is a bit more expensive but closer to Sydney and only a couple of hours from Where I live.
I have got my eye on a property currently in the Maitland area – its a reno, equity build, positive cashflow play. Its going to auction so hopefully there is not a lot of competition.
You need to always keep your eye out for a bargain when it presents itself.

Newcastle Expressway from F3 to Branxton will have effects in the area so get on the right side of that situation. RTA estimates say 30,000 less cars daily on the New England Hwy through East Maitland and past Maitland as a result. Good for some, bad for others.

Would have thought you might have added Toowoomba in the mix there as well.
Was out the a few weeks back and some very interesting activity there.
Hard to believe it is Australia's largest inland town with the exception of Canberra.
