All Topics / Finance / Do all brokers do this or does mine think i’m an idiot?
I've used the same loan broker for my past 2 purchases, last purchase being mid last year.
Towards the end of last year i receive a call from some wealth acceleration group because my loan broker "won" tickets meaning his clients get to go to this seminar for free. I was annoyed he passed my details to a third party and these people don't take no for an answer. If i want to purchase over priced property and get ripped off i don't' need help to do that. He then calls me to make sure i'm going (I'm guessing he is making something out of this as he was really persistent). I said no and hung up the phone.
Today, I receive a parcel in the mail. I have a $1200 voucher to get a family photo on canvas all thanks from my broker. I thought yeah right what's the catch. Fine print says that the photo is free but when you pick up the photo the following week both husband and wife must attend. This is even in bold letters.
I'm no bright spark but you don't need a degree to work out what will happen next. Hard sell of some product i don't want.
Does my broker think i'm an idiot or is this standard behavior with brokers these days?
I hope Jamie or RIchard don't do this, it's a good way to pi$$ people off!

lol – I've never heard of it. It would annoy me too.
I send my clients a bottle of nice champagne to celebrate their purchase. The local Dan Murphy's love me.

Jamie, a bottle of champagne is nice, even coming round on the weekend to wash my car. But giving my details to 3rd parties especially seminar groups drives me up the wall.
Totally agree. It's something that shouldn't happen without your consent.
The seminar sounds quite cheesy as well.
I wonder what will appear tomorrow, a free assessment of your insurances maybe?
Cheers

My last broker opened a bank account in my Name that was in negative $ for 3 months of fees. I was shocked when I got a statement from the bank

My broker usually pops around with a bottle of rum, I think he's hoping I'll grab a couple of glasses and some ice.
Yes, the broker is probably aiming for a 4% commission on any house you purchaser upon picking up your photos.

They are trying to get you together to spruik you a property, run a mile and let him know he sucks
Why not shame him, it will help others from getting treated like that.
Always get independent advice not associated with the transaction, trust me, best advice you will ever get.
Cheers

Dont worry i dont intend to shame anyone. Getting sued is the last thing I want!
This is often something you see from Accountants and certainly financial planners. The problem with accountants they are often not property specialists and can put you into crap just because they are receiving a fee
