    HI Everyone

I own IP portfolio and my accountant charged me $1000 (including gst) for my 2011/12 tax return.  I have been using the same accountant for the last 5 years.  The accountant initially charged me $600 (including gst) when i first started using his services.

I am a bit concerned because he seems to be increasing his fees every year but the no. of properties I own haven't increased.

Please help me by confirming if the fee charged is reasonable.

I would also appreciate if anyone could recommend an accountant who specialises in property and located around the inner west.

    Thanks

Depends on the quality of service/advice and complexity of your finances.

Your accountant may have simply changed his/her method of charging. If you don't believe it's value for money then try a different one.

    Cheers

    Jamie

My accountant charges me around $1000 including the investment properties. How many properties do you have? Are you from melbourne?

    Apart from the fees.

Do you think he is helping you achieving your goal ? like give you some advise or suggestion ?

if not, I think it's the time to shop around since no of properties not change, complexity didn't change then why the fees keep going up ??

    Ask some other accountants

It depends on the number of properties. Also do you have SMSF related structures?

There is no way an accountant would charge $1k for one property – good to know exactly how many properties we are talking about.

    Thanks for your response Jamie.

My accountant has never given me any advice.

Could you please recommend an accountant in NSW?
