    Hi all,
I have never applied for a credit card before and would like to know if it is a painful process ie do I have to show all my IP statements and Rental Account statements etc

    or is it relatively simple?

    Hi Fredo

The last time I increased my cc limit they wanted to see all sources of income – including rental statements/lease agreements.

    Cheers

    Depends on:
    1. Which bank
    2. Which card ( gold, plat etc…)
    3. The credit limit

Normally if you apply for the CC with your own bank that you do banking with they would only ask for payslips and that’s it….very easy and straight forward.

Also since you have a IP- your mortgage lender would provide a free CC most of the time.

Just try from a small limit and you will find it easy. They will also keep sending you letters offering to up the limit every 6 months. I had a cc with a $60,000 limit, but recently ditched it. I now use mainly a debit card from ING – it only works on your own money. No fees etc either

Yep, it is no different to getting any other type of loan. That said, if you are looking at restructuring any of your home loans, often you can get a 'pre-approved' credit card as part of the process, and a good bank package will allow you to pay no aanual or rewards fees on the cards either. Makes sens to do it at the same time if you can.

    Cheers

Well I didn’t get the card I applied for. The lender I applied with was although small very reputable and responsible.

I guess I get annoyed as now I have an unnecessary credit inquiry on my file and have never missed a beat with my IP repayments or bills etc yet other people seem to get credit cards tossed at them.

I may see a lender one of my mortgages are with.

Do you just flat out lie or what lol

Do you know why you got so many enquires? have you gotten a copy of your credit report before ( everyone is entitled to a free copy of their credit file once per year)

Also some smaller lenders will give out credit card for free if your a mortgage holder- simply ask and see if they have one or not.

    Ray,

You are embarrassing those companies you keep mentioning in every post. So far you have made 14 posts and all providing a link to a related website.

Whats the deal? Are you involved in the company in any way?

I'm boring .. i went to an online site called Mozo .. it allows you to apply online.

I applied with legitimate credentials and got 7 cards.

Having now abandoned 3 of them .. it was TOO easy to get credit .. but a lot of fun.

They did however change the rules of credit card application and verifiction since … so it may be harder to do that.

But mentioning how I did it cant hurt.

    Hi Richard

    Looks like the problem solved.

Flash is no problem on the Samsung Tablet that I use now. No more apple products for me.

Just applied for a card with bankwest, small limit $2k, just to cover my monthly expenses, was trying to link up my interest repayments to it but just found out that is a no no :(

I called, asked for one, they told me I couldn't have it as I couldn't show incoming and outgoing expesnes (a property deal was underway and I was in financial limbo with money all over the place), low and behold it showed up to my house anyways.

    Happily using it frivulously :P

    Ok thanks Terry.

Bought the wife an Ipad for our trip to Canada in a fortnight so she could Skype the kids.

Cant even get PI.com loaded in as it requires Flash and cant seem to find an acceptable alternative.

She wanted Ipad so it could go with her iphone. Wish we had gone the Galaxy route now.

    Cheers

I still have an iphone and can get that working with this forum. I am able to post on it too, but it is a bit small.

Nah, it's all good – the iPad is fine. Terry just needs some time to come around :)

I use it for the forum. It's been ok so far.

There's an app for flash on the iphone called skyfire or something. You might be able to download it for the iPad as well.

    Cheers

    Hi Jamie

Yes Skyfire was the way I was going to go.

After that i am told my 16 year old we will jailbreak it.

Sounds like an old 70's movie to me but i am told all good.

    Cheers
