Just wondering if anyone here has any experience/advice in renting out a carpark?
Reason I ask is that I own an IP with 2 secure carbays, very rare to find in East Perth, and its close proximity to CBD makes this appealing. I have a short-term executive tenant coming for 4-8 weeks and then plan to renovate the apartment shortly afterwards. He will only require one carbay, so I was thinking perhaps I could ‘rent’ out the second carbay for 2-3 months or so for a little extra income.
My idea firstly was to drop a note in the letterbox of all the other apartments in the residence (24 block apartment, 3 of us have 2 carbays and the rest have just 1) to see if anyone already living there was interested.
I am wondering, does this raise any issues with the body corporate? would i need to seek permission from them? can i rent it out to a non-resident of the property?
is it worth it?
Anyone’s thoughts or experiences would be mot appreciated. We actually have our strata AGM for the property next week.
If you don't want to raise the ire of the body corporate just advertise in the local paper or gumtree etc with the suburb, details and your phone number.
found a carpark wanted ad this morn on gumtree, already found someone keen to take it. not bad for an hour online and some emails its not much $$, but its still getting something instead of having a bay sitting there abandoned, and besides the 2 months minimum rental income will help to top up the vacant period during renos, so its all good.
thanks for the tips guys
