    I'm new (a friend recommended this site!)

    I'm looking to buy a one-bed property (my first) in Waterloo, Sydney and am wondering:
    – If you have any thoughts about the area?
    – Whether you can recommend a reliable mortgage broker
    – Also, I'm not sure (as an expat who plans to buy another property in the near future) whether to use an offset account to offer more flexibility?

    Would really appreciate any help.

    Hi Emma,

    not sure if you would prefer a local broker if you live in Sydney, but Richard Taylor is a valuable contributor to this site and is a broker in Brisbane. His handle on this site is Qlds007, you will find him in any of the finance forums.

    Have you heard of Australian Expat Loans? I was in contact with them yesterday and they seemed experienced. I'll also research Shame Home Loans.

    You might want to try “shape” rather than “shame” home loans though :)
