In Australia one of the benefits of property investment is negative gearing. I understand there is no negative gearing for US investors investing in US but what if you are an Australian – is US rental income taxed in Australia also and can interest on money borrowed in US be tax deducted and can depreciation on US property be claimed as a deduction on either US rental income or Aus income from your job?
