Well it's Spring and things have dried out. It's a good time to begin painting!

Last night i got stuck in painted a room, on walking back in to overlook the works noticed a heap of little insects had stuck to the white wall.

So my tip is if doing any painting inside is to buy some Mortein.

Tip 2 – don't paint at night when the lights will attract bugs.

Ok, i feel a bit silly.

Tip 3) Take note of tip 2.

I hate painting it's so boring. But you've got to check this out for wall paper as well. Lock this in a room with a can of mortien and let it paint 24hrs a day. I wish.

Hey Jess – I saw Wallwik on a show on How To on Foxtel. I just recieved it in the mail about to use it.

It all looks very easy – you soak and wring out this cloth in water, very lightly scour the wallpaper and place the dampened wallwik on the wall, come back and the wallpaper peels off easily – repeat the process with the same cloth. Google will explain more

Will take longer than steaming off – but I have a week to do it and can keep painting whilst I am doing it – I had to get it from Ebay USA, picked it up for .99C plus postage

Someone told me many years ago never to paint in pure white as it attracts insects – tint instead to an offwhite
I have renovated many houses since and always tint my whites now – it seems to work for me and it's amazing how many offwhites can look like white and still have that lovely fresh look

Another tip from a painter when I was trying to paint over a wall painted in a strong colour (sometimes these walls will take over 4 coats of paint to cover properly if using an offwhite), paint the whole wall first in grey. This creates an overall neautral base which then only needs your normal 2 coats to cover again.

Hope this helps someone! I have a bit of experience in renovating – always our own homes – so zilch experience in seeking finance for IP so that will be a learning curve for me.

PS I'm still renovating, and getting a bit sick of it – going to work in the morning and coming back every day to an unfinished house… have to remind myself of our long term goals!
    Cheers,
    Lorraine
