The Greenhouse effect

There are many ill effects of depending only on the fossil fuels for energy needs. Apart from the rising prices and its continuously depleting supply, the fossil fuels are also alleged to create environmental pollution. When the fossil fuels are used in combustion, it gives rise to harmful gases that lead to land and air pollution.
The pollution of earth is the short term effect of these fossil fuels. The long term ill effect of these fossil fuels is a phenomenon called green house effect. What is this greenhouse effect? The greenhouse effect is created by the gases emitted by fossil fuels. The gases form a blanket on the earth’s atmosphere, along with clouds, water vapor and carbon dioxide. When sunlight heats the earth, some of this heat is trapped in the atmosphere due to this blanket. This is just like the heat which is trapped in a greenhouse at a nursery. As the concentration of these gases increase, global warming takes place. This green house effect can lead to health hazards and loss of life through melting of the polar ice caps, resulting in flooding of low lying areas.
The greenhouse effect can be curbed by reduced usage of fossil fuels for energy. Fossil energy can be compensated with clean or green energy available from the natural elements of earth. world energy research promotes investment in the clean energy sector and enables the investors to get high profits from these investments.
