Are there any good books to read(other than magaret lomas which i have read) that teach first timeproperty investors nearing retirement how to go about it.
Thanks
Dear demons3, How many books do you need to read, before you take action? There are plenty of books out there, but they all say pretty much the same thing. Ms Lomas and Jan Somers laid the fundamentals out for many of us. What you need to do now is stop reading and start doing…..especially if you are nearing retirement as you do not have the luxury of time compounding your investments.
Find someone you trust to help you buy something, using the basic principles outlined by Lomas, Somers or McKnight. If you dont trust your research find someone who can do this for you, if you dont trust yourself to take action, then find a mentor or company that will hold your hand through the process – there are plenty out there to choose from. In the words of that famous shoe company ” Just Do It” .
I too wanted to read everything – and did so for years and wasted about five years reading it all! I now have five investment properties but if I had stopped reading earlier I probably would have about 8 by now instead! If you want suggestions for companies that can help, I am sure if you put out a post you would get many replies from companies willing to help (for a price). Best of all, find a friend you can trust. If you dont know ANYONE investing already, then make sure you are 100% comfortable with the company you choose because there are some real doozy’s out there that will sell you an upmarket cardboard box, rather than a solid investment property. But DO SOMETHING! Good Luck, and keep us posted how you get on. The story is why we all come here, to listen and help! AG
