All Topics / Help Needed! / Rebates on Investment Products
Hi All,
I have posted this up previously in the Heads Up! Forum, but there is not much traffic there. I am really interested to hear the thoughts of forum members on the merits of non advice investment services such as:
http://www.rebatefinance.com.au
http://www.investsmart.com.au
http://www.20/20directinvest.com.auThere have been frequent and robust debates on the merits of rebate services in mortgage broking, what are peoples opinions of this business model in the investment product industry?
If everything is declared up front then maybe okay.
Rebates on mortgages is certainly "news" to me. What amountof rebates are we talking about? How much?
Many non structured brokers offer say 0.25% rebate off their upfront.
Usually you have to sign to say that you will repay this in the event that the commission is clawed back in the first 18 months.

Hi All,
I wasn't referring to mortgage brokers who rebate, that topic has been done to death. The reason for th post is that there were a lot of differing opinions on the merits of using a mortgage broker who rebates and I was wondering what peoples thoughts were as to the various non advice financial services firms that seem to be becoming prominant. Are people comfortable making their own investment decisions on shares, managed funds etc?
Regards
Alistair
