    Hello people.
I have a question about wether the RESULTS program would suit us.  Not sure if this is the right place to post.
As we live in a tiny town in outback QLD, the biggest hurdle to our property investing is the physical distance that we need to cover to look at real estate.  While I would love to be participating actively in the property market, I find that with two small kids, we can't travel the 500km to Townsville or Mt Isa often enought to be well enough informed. (Plus with fuel at $1.60+ /L here it is very expensive). We do plan to move to a regional centre when the kids commence their education (or high school), but for now we find we earn a decent living where we are.  As it is so far away, it is hard to gradually assume activity in the real estate market while my husband continues to operate our current business until we no longer need it.  One option is for him to go and work in the mines, we all move to a big town, and I can persue the property investing angle – but we don't really like the sound of that lifestyle.  (Perhaps it would be so short lived that that wouldn't matter).  We have quite a bit of equity and would love to make another investment but find it especially hard to participate in the market from such a distance.
Perhaps RESULTS would suit us better if we eventually move to a larger town (this one only has about 600 people in it).   So, can anyone out there who has experienced the RESULTS program (mentor or mentee (??)) help me to figure out if we can really benefit from it now, or if we should wait until we move.
    Thanks.

Hi and thanks for your post.

Certainly, there have been people who have participated in RESULTS who live in remote areas. For them, the distance is another factor they have to overcome in order to achieve success.

I would say that joining the mentoring program won't solve your identified problems, in fact, with more education you may be more frustrated by the limitations you have described.

My encouragement would be to get you to think through why you would like to be mentored, and how serious you are about making some big life changes to achieve your wealth creation goals sooner. Should you decide to take massive action, I think RESULTS would be a great support and guiding tool for you, as the program best benefits those who take constant action.

If you'd like to talk about this over the phone, by all means call Simon Buckingham (head coach) in the office on 03 8892 3800 during business hours (after 7/1/08).

    All the best,

Thanks Steve, for your honest advice.  "Frustration" was a good choice of words.  But it might all be for the best as our current situation means that we are entering the period of interest rate rises with nearly $400K worth of real estate and $85K debt.  If we can just avoid doing something stupid (like buying a boat) we will be in a great position when we finally do move closer to a city.

One other question about the RESULTS program, if I am lucky enough to get a response again, would be wether mentors are necesarily matched on a geographic basis, so that the mentor you are working with might have some knowledge of the local economy in which you are investing.  I say this because I think that investing in a capital city often has different issues than investing in a provincial city.
    Thanks again.
